Most straight and bi women will be drawn to your most average man, with what they consider “hot” to be wildly all over the chart. And it’s the same with men! Left to our natural devices, we’re attracted to a wide range of women and types. There’s no one body type that works for everyone.
OP goes on to talk about evolution brain… it that’s accurate and something men ignore. Women, like men, like all animals, are driven more by primal instincts in a mate than anything else. A physique that says “I can meet your needs” is going to be appealing…and that physique is subjective.
The thing about non-sequitur statements is people like me begin wondering why you thought it was sequitur. You’ll quickly discover the truth that way. This is a tactic you use with people under the age of ten normally…or republicans apparently.
As someone who was homeschooled from 5th-9th grade by a loving and well-intentioned mom - don’t homeschool your kids. Don’t. It’s harmful to them and should be avoided except for extreme cases.

I live in an area that can flip blue in a bad off cycle. It also faces little voter suppression. So I have an obligation to vote to make the results undeniable, so when denied the people have a larger motive to rise up and enforce their will.
The impossible road the GOP has to the midterms, especially as the economy begins to implode, makes me think their gerrymandering strategy won’t work and they know that. I don’t expect fair elections or the results to be respected. *but the elections matter* for that very reason.
A summary of our system makes no sense. Why do workers have to take all the risk, do all the work, and get none of the reward? Mandating profit sharing only seems fair.
We live in a cyberpunk reality and the government are Scavs.

I’m biased because I’m friends with a lot of Christian academics, mystics, etc even though I’m none of the above (function as an atheist, really more agnostic). I also see religion as more an evil than anything, but also a part of the human experience we’ve yet to move beyond.
Ehhhh…a lot of them really put work into it. Sometimes more than atheists and agnostics. You’ll never find a bigger critic of the religious right than the religious left. And I give them credit for it. They do speak out, they just never get coverage.

I just think of what I accomplished with my COVID dollars and how for a moment it put me in a vastly better spot. Had that continued, I’d have escaped the rut I fell into during COVID, which would make me way more impactful on the economy than I currently am.

I used to be so anti-UBI, but it’s impossible to ignore the studies. UBI works and if a society wants to transition from a basic liberal democracy to one of actual abundance (in the liberal or leftist sense), UBI will have to be a part of that.

This time around they’re breaking it beyond repair. Doesn’t mean we can’t come back from it, but it does mean amending the constitution and essentially rewriting the rule of law and engaging in another 2-3 decades of “reconstruction” will be necessary.

This is why christians tend to be worse people than even the most vile non-Christians. Their entire belief structure throws all of humanity into a binary of “saved” and “not saved.” And it’s been that way almost since the beginning (for the majority).
If you don’t, you’re rejected by God. And THAT is why it plays out in politics - it’s a religious ideal that feeds narcissism and self-centeredness. You’re special, chosen by God (either arbitrarily or because you did the right thing). To them, without God you’re a piece of shit worthy of hell.
But that’s not the majority of Christians and it never has been. The majority have always believed in some mixture of the idea that this all powerful being created us out of love, but we’re so evil that he can’t be around us unless there’s a sacrifice. And if you accept it, God accepts you.
This is not directed toward liberal Christians or those who see it as a personal faith journey, or at least a call for helping the downtrodden. THAT isn’t evil and I’ll always support people who believe that (even if I’m agnostic). If we both want what’s good, but for different reasons, who cares?
It’s not just American christians. Look at South Korea, Germany, Latin America, etc. Whenever evangelicalism makes it way to authority, division and oppression follow. The Christianity that the majority of people follow and have followed for millennia is, at its core, an extremely evil belief.
Definitely understand the design choice to make it thinner and support it (function and practicality), but as an 80s baby that box is nostalgic as hell and I love it.

I think we shouldn’t differentiate at this point. The “southern” style of evangelicalism is the modus operandi of evangelicals in America. It’s the vast majority. The ones who keep their faith to themselves and don’t become rancid sacks of shit are the rarity, so they probably need the descriptor.

Yes, this! It shows that a lot of liberals will work with the left if the left approaches issues pragmatically and without a purist mindset. Will we have to compromise? Yup. Will we get all we want? Nope. Will life be immeasurably better in a world where the debate is liberal vs leftist? Yes.
Trump admin is deporting everyone EXCEPT violent gang members. Why? Because they likely make money off the various illicit trades from the gangs.
And what is NIMBY if not anti-democratic at its core? What is it if not anti-society, anti-human? At its core, it aligns well with any movement that also devalues humans and treats the less fortunate or those outside your own caste as “lesser.” We need to purify ourselves of anti-democrats.
So any movement that would threaten democracy is just not something I’m going to support. Anything that eradicates equality, freedom, and liberty - the foundations for a just and prosperous society - I’m gonna be against it.
I’m finding a lot of “centrist” dems or NIMBY dems or, hell, even leftist Dems only Dem because of a handful of issues. But they all have some issue they view as bigger than fascism, and will side with fascism before democracy. For me, all my beliefs stem from a belief in democracy.
It’s already starting if you’re poor. A LOT of support is limited or gone right now and the effects are starting to trickle in on a personal level for a lot of people. Not collective yet. Sad as it is, but we need it all to happen rapidly and shockingly. A slow march means it’ll never stop.

As a collective, humans are the most amazing species on this planet. As individuals, we’re really fucking inept and stupid.

The strength of the US is our separation of powers. But due to state federalism and how we run our government, it’s easy to eventually just take over all the branches. Federalism, treating states as sovereigns, is ultimately our undoing.

I grew up conservative and abandoned it. But, this is one conservative principle to which I still hold and will live and die on.

Watching people talk about what policies they want when/if normalcy returns and…you realize that’s not happening, right? There is no going back, there is no returning. The only path is forward and fixing the mistakes that lead to this. That means a new constitution…
“Identify or die” should be the standard going forward. And we as citizens who’ll be on juries should treat it as law regardless of the law. Sends a message.
And don’t get me wrong, I’m not opposed to the government buying stake in a large corp. I’m actually very much in favor of that approach, but ONLY in cases of bailouts and only then, temporarily. Or if it’s a necessary monopoly. But outside of that. No. Business is private.

At what point can we say the American experiment - having one sovereign share power with 50 sovereigns, creating constant tension - has failed? A strong centralized government that can set regulations but places all necessary tension within itself is probably the way forward after restoration.
