AND this is why the best method to win the war for Ukraine is doing everything they can and then more to raze to the ground every single refinery in range. Multiple pros: less gas for the military and logistic, inflation, need to spend dollars to buy gas abroad (less available for currency control)
So, If I got it right: to have the ruble strong they simply sell every single currency (- what they use to buy abroad) they get from their sold oil\gas, plus if needed gold\reserves from the central bank. They'll lose control when both the methods above become not enough to stop the ruble fall.
