It's way past time that congress reign in those GWOT powers. The idea that a US president is allowed to bomb any person anywhere in the world as long as they said the word "terrorism" was a bad idea even before someone like Trump became president

Americans are just very intolerant to people with differing opinions in my experience, way more than in other countries I lived at. People are told since they are kids it's their civic duty to be mean to people with wrong political opinion. I'm not sure it's a good thing, but I'm in a minority.

But that's also true for DC right now. Most of the violence and hostility comes from cops and ICE, not the national guard. I still think it's a terrible idea to send the military to occupy an American city, and normalizing this tactic is going to lead this country to some dark dark places.

I am begging you to not think of the military as a moderating force. The military is a machine that is designed to kill people, and if our government keep deploying it on american civilians it's only a question if time until we get another Kent state or something worse

Article 35 Citizens of the People's Republic of China enjoy freedom of speech, of the press, of assembly, of association, of procession and of demonstration. Article 36 Citizens of the People's Republic of China enjoy freedom of religious belief. No state organ, public organization or individual may compel citizens to believe in, or not to believe in, any religion; nor may they discriminate against citizens who believe in, or do not believe in, any religion. He's a racist clown, but the mainstream media been writing glow-ups on him like he's some sort of important intellectual leader for years for some reason, so unsurprisingly people who read the New York Times and get their world view from it started to believe it.

I was very surprised as well, it's a very famous image and you'd think this will come up more, considering the AMA is still a very powerful lobbying group. But in general the role of medical doctors in fighting against reforming the US healthcare system is very underpotted.

The AMA is a right wing organization and has been one of the fiercest enemies of fixing the US healthcare system for decades. They are literally the people who paid for this.

Biden put 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs. Both parties are owned by the fossil fuel industry, it's why Chinese companies aren't even trying to sell EVs in the US. They'll know they get Huawei style sanctions.

Biden finalizes China tariff hikes, including for EVs, batteries and solar panels The administration’s increases for this year include a 100% tariff on electric vehicles, a 25% tariff on lithium-ion EV batteries and a 50% tariff on photovoltaic solar cells.

Increasing the funding and powers of ICE rather than axing that cursed agency might go down as the worst thing the Obama administration did, but there is a lot competition there.

I think Satya is a true believer, he thinks those LLMs are going to be the future of everything. A lot of tech execs think that. And they want to believe, they want to discipline their workforce who they think is overpaid and lazy and replace a lot of them with chatbots.

Satya Nadella is way worse CEO than Balmer ever was, and he's going to really drive that company into the ground. But we measure CEOs mainly by how well the stock price do under them, and he most certainly been good at that. And wall street love mass firing.

Microsoft is trying to push AI very hard, and the push is coming from top management. Teams and people in Microsoft are rewarded directly for how much AI usage they can drive. What we're seeing is the result of that incentive structure.

The B-2 is designed to bomb poor countries in the developing world, which is all it ever done (outside that one time it bombed the Chinese embassy in Belgrade "by accident"). Israel don't even have dedicated bombers and they probably won't want to pay up for such overprice nonsense anyway.

Nobody works for the US military for free. Most people just wouldn't volunteer for a foreign invader. Think about yourself, think about the president you hated the most, would you have worked with a foreign invader who came to "liberate" the American people from their government? I wouldn't.

You really think you were greeted as liberators there? Every crime the Israel did in Gaza the US did in Afghanistan and on a bigger scale. The US occupation was hared by afghans, it's why the US lost, It's why our collaborators had to run to America when we left

Most Afghan disagree, it's why the US got pushed by a bunch of people with pickup trucks. The people who worked for America in Afghanistan are no better than the Palestinians who collaborate with Israel. I hope someday Americans understand it, but American exceptionalism run very deep still.

The main reason people work for America when we invade their country is because the US pay them, a lot, astronomically high compared to local salaries. And that's why whenever we bring Freedom, Democracy and the American Way to a country there is never a shortage of collaborators.

Before anything he would make it his life mission to destroy the life of the federal agent that laid a hand on a senator. The entire party would, and he would be fired very quickly, and good chance ends in jail. Dems don't have that juice, it's why the secret police feel comfortable manhandling them
