Nigel Farage was humiliated earlier today by a brilliant Rep. Jamie Raskin who called him a “far-right pro-Putin politician” and a “Donald Trump sycophant and wannabe”. Not sure Nigel will want to come back to the US after that 😂

They're utterly insane. Freedom of speech is about being able to criticise those in charge like the PM. Something everyone seems to demonstrate is alive and well. It's not a freedom to harass / incite or plan violence.

Prima facie, Elon Musk appears to be manipulating X platform for specific political voices he supports (as well as using his own account to amplify the far right & furthest right). In particular the platform dynamic has shifted & is helping Tommy Robinson to be amplified more than Nigel Farage.

My experience of AI is that it generates hallucinations that sometimes might be correct. Enough to fool, but not reliably use. So much money and resources have gone into it that it's a sunk cost fallacy now for a lot of firms.

So that means any law to strip / reduce executive power today, cam be reverted by PM Farage. Only a widespread constitutional reform can do that, where parliament ceases to be sovereign. Basically we're stuffed.

Can we? I'm not doubting that reducing executive power is a good idea. But my understanding is that: 1) Parliament is sovereign. 2) If a Parliament passes a law to reduce exec power today, and "locks" it for all time. 3) Future parliament can't be sovereign if 2 is true. ...

I've used AI for work. Had to spend a lot of time fixing it's hallucinations. It's useful, but it's a tool that has to be used in competent hands. Remember it's just a glorified stats model. "these words sentences should go with these other words / sentences".

They do increase. 10% rather than 25% and there's a cap on sales.

If its actually cheaper for Americans to buy a Bentley with a 10% tarrif attached than a car made in the US, then the US is utterly fluffed.

So Sky news reports that the UK US trade deal announced today consists of "no physical UK-US trade document" that will be signed. Trade deal is not a protected term. It really could be anything somehow related to trade. But I did not expect it to be invisible.

Historical background: the UK has wanted a trade deal with the US since brexit (and basically everyone). Nothing to do with tarrifs. If Trump links it to tarrifs watch Starmers poll ratings collapse further.
