Why should the public see a murder?
Just an odd duck that comes around every few years, asking the big questions not about how things are, but why.

Airlines should not be able to charge you more for a ticket because they know you Googled “funeral arrangements.” I introduced the first federal ban on surveillance pricing to stop companies from using your private data to jack up prices or lower wages.

Three (and I thought it was two, conclusively) mass shooters ever have identified as a gender different than the one assigned to them at birth, yet 97% of all mass shooters ever have been men. Approximately 54% of all mass shooters were white men. Which group would actually be unstable?

Someone calling her response to him, whatever it was, "disrespectful" and not calling his trying to turn her trauma into a comedy disrespectful says everything.

Treating Executive Orders as law is another autocratic constitutional amendment that's being effected by widespread fear and judicial surrender

I think you should take your own advice. Your idea of what's important to know is getting skewed.

How is it? Are family members finding out vis CNN photos that a loved one died? How is it relevant? When there are significant and non stop political issues, yet you can't see this is just making money for the 24 hr news cycle .

There is no "Florida FEMA". It's a fed agency. What do you think defines "large scale"? Do you know who decides? Loc government. THEY tell regional EM agencies that they need help, and when regional needs more assets then the request state assistance. The governor has to then request FEMA.
Clarisse McClellan (@oddduckclarisse.bsky.social) reply parent
Is that news? Is that information that is relevant to anyone outside of the region? Is it critical information for citizens? My humanity isn't so tenuous that I need to see pictures to care. That's why posts like this are performative. You need it. I don't.
Clarisse McClellan (@oddduckclarisse.bsky.social)
They continue to lie and prey upon the ignorance of citizens. FEMA has never been a DC based agency. They've been been understaffed, not bloated. The disaster declaration process isn't public knowledge and the Trump admin is playing into that lack of knowledge.
Clarisse McClellan (@oddduckclarisse.bsky.social) reply parent
Why is CNN posting these people? What's the motive here? Has CNN posted the faces of any of the people kidnapped by ICE?
Clarisse McClellan (@oddduckclarisse.bsky.social) reply parent
FEMA is a federal agency. They only come in after large scale emergencies that are too big for local and regional agencies to handle, and the governor has to declare a state of emergency and request them.
Clarisse McClellan (@oddduckclarisse.bsky.social) reply parent
The paywalls are a serious issue. Access to information makes disinformation all the more accessible. Average people can not get the least biased facts but they can get the lies for free.
Clarisse McClellan (@oddduckclarisse.bsky.social) reply parent
FEMA wouldn't respond anyway. This is a local emergency. Governors have to declare a state of emergency to request FEMA. It has to exceed local and TDEM capabilities first.
Clarisse McClellan (@oddduckclarisse.bsky.social) reply parent
Why do you think emergency services weren't prepared? And why is it solely their responsibility?

Yes, I mean citizens. Consumers. Most people want change without action. They gave up their voice to these representatives and then thought they could get it back with some phone calls. People need to face the fact that change will not come without sacrifice, and with little help from representatives.

There is no "dopamine deficit" and there's no such thing as a dopamine reset. We're just addicted to distractions-and as life gets more complicated people are becoming depressed. That's it. Ray Bradbury warned us about this.
Clarisse McClellan (@oddduckclarisse.bsky.social) reply parent
And what are the people doing to combat it?
Clarisse McClellan (@oddduckclarisse.bsky.social) reply parent
That's not how a society works, and the complacency of the many who don't want to "find out" is a big reason why we're in this state. Americans gave in, turned a blind eye to the small fires being set, but want to "we didn't start the fire" their way through the blaze. Stop it.

There is never going to be a perfect society. Liberals hold social progress back by seeking a perfect political end-goal that can not and does not exist. All while actively doing nothing to change even their local communities.

Citizens of the United States may have a unique opportunity to redefine and rebuild our culture. We don't have one because a perfect storm of events in the last twenty years, mostly of our doing, destroyed the last of it. But maybe the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

We are in a dangerous place in this stage of the 21st century of people wanting a utopia. If we learned anything in English class, we learned that the attempt to create a utopia is the first step to a dystopia. We are in the opening stages of a dystopia, decades in the making. We did this.
