All a wee bit damp on my #LunchtimeWalk today, but I did catch this wee #bee for #MacroMonday striking a proper pose #macro#macrophotography #photography #wellbeing #mindful Buzzin’ but stylish, can’t you see? A proper poser is this wee bee. 😂

A close-up photograph of a bumblebee perched on a cluster of small purple flowers. The bee has a fuzzy golden-orange thorax, a black head with prominent antennae, and black legs gripping the flower. Its semi-transparent wings rest along its back. The flowers are delicate with thin stems, purple petals, and orange-yellow centres, some of them beginning to wilt. The background is a soft blur of green leaves, making the bee and flowers the sharp focal point.

#MagentaMonday #Bloomscrolling #Gardening #Bees #MacroMonday #EastCoastKin #PhotographersOfBluesky A bumble bee gets up close and personal with one of the Salvia blooms in our small English garden not far from London in Surrey on the Kent and Sussex borders.

A bumble bee, its gossamer, folded wings glistening in the sunlight above its black-and-golden striped body, appears to be providing lunch for a Salvia Rock and Bloom flower as it opens its jaw-like petals. The reality, is the opposite, of course, as the bee collects pollen. The plant’s dark stems hold the flowers horizontally away from the central stalk. The background is a brown wood fence.

It’s #BlueSkyMonday and not just a new month but a new season. Time for mists and mellow fruitfulness? Not just yet. Still plenty of blue skies, warmth and excellent kite-flying weather. #photography #PhotographersUnited #PhotographersOfBluesky #PhotoOfTheDay #ArtYear #photohour #EastCoastKin

A French beach is deserted apart from a windswept couple making their way towards the English Channel or La Manche. However, beyond them and a wooden boardwalk hundreds of colourful kites are flying against a pale blue sky and white buildings in the port to the right. On the far left a white, red-topped lighthouse stands at the entrance to the harbour.

This photo shows a close-up view of a corrugated, translucent roof panel with a distinctive wavy profile. At the center of the image, a small patch of moss has established itself on the upper surface of one of the roof’s raised sections. The moss appears dense and green, with numerous thin, upright stalks that bear tiny reddish-brown capsules—the moss’s sporophytes, which are essential for reproduction. The focus is sharp on the moss, highlighting its delicate structure, while the background, including more of the roof panels and some wooden siding, is artistically blurred to draw attention to the plant. The interplay of natural textures and materials—the organic moss against the manufactured roof and wood—creates a visually engaging contrast in the photograph.

#AlphabetChallenge #WeekIforIconic Running out of days and I still have icons left in my locker. One last one before Sheena Who Must Be Obeyed comes up with some fiendish challenge for Week J. This is the Pont du Gard in southern France - a piece of beautiful and practical Roman engineering.

The honey-coloured stone arches of the Roman Pont du Gard rise above the river Gardon against a perfect southern French sky. The aqueduct bridge, built in the first century AD to carry water over 50km (31m) to the Roman colony of Nemausus (Nîmes) crosses the Gardon near the town of Vers-Pont-du-Gard in southern France. One of the best preserved Roman aqueduct bridges, it was added to UNESCO's list of World Heritage sites in 1985 because of its exceptional preservation, historical importance, and architectural ingenuity. At 49 metres, it is the highest Roman bridge-aqueduct in the world. It is made up of three rows of arches one above the other (six arches on the first level, 11 on the second level and 47 originally). It is the only example of an ancient three-storey bridge still standing. Nearly 1,000 men worked on the project, which took only five years to complete.

#Gardening #SundayYellow #BloomScrolling #MacroPhotography These yellow Coreopsis tend to spread a little if left to their own devices but the zinging yellow coloured petals bring sunshine into our little English garden even on a gloomy day.

Bright yellow petals of a Coreopsis flower with a dark orange coloured seed pod centre.

What kind of degenerate leaves university and thinks a career in the Home Office or the Department of Work and Pensions is a good and useful way to pay back society for their education?

A few years ago someone posting shit like this could be charged for race hate crime. What the fuck happened to our country that a former MP can get away with things like this while pensioners peacefully protesting at the government’s complicity in the Gaza genocide are arrested weekly.

They didn’t need to make any appointments and they certainly did not need to start by bringing in people who would immediately alienate a huge section of those who have just left Starmer’s party in disgust. A big fail even before they enter the starting gate.

This is the Pedo Prez’s last desperate throw of the dice. Declare war for no reason and then a national emergency at home to allow even more fascist fuckwittery. Just publish the fucking Epstein Files, you pervert or die, whichever.

Packing in a #SundayYellow pollen punch while scratching his arse😉 #SundaySharing #macro #macrophotography #photography #bee #weebee #EastCoastKin And it was all yellow💛

Close-up macro photograph of a bumblebee feeding on a vibrant purple flower. The bee’s fuzzy body is covered in yellow and black hairs, with fine detail visible in its segmented legs and translucent wings. Its antennae and large dark eye are clearly seen as it buries its head into the flower to collect nectar. The purple petals around it appear soft and velvety, with blurred purple and green tones in the background creating a natural bokeh effect. The image captures the intricate textures of both the bee and the flower in sharp focus.

Sunday is #Stunday and #ColorADay #OrangeSun (thanks to @sabineshutterbug.bsky.social for reminding me) So here is an effort I took in the days when I rose early to walk our little fox terrier as the sun came up. #EastCoastKin #PhotographersUnited #PhotographersOfBluesky #photography

The sun has just risen over our small Surrey village but is hidden by a bank of clouds that resemble a mountain range on the horizon. The sky has turned orange around the formation and below other cloud banks. Above that the sky is milky grey-blue. The fields are still shrouded in half light but some trees can be seen to the left.

#AlphabetChallenge #WeekIforIconic I am a huge Tintin fan and identify with the boy reporter’s cantankerous sea captain companion Captain Haddock, as you might guess from my profile pic, so today I have chosen a frame from one of Hergé’s iconic strips … Destination Moon or Objectif Lune.

An enamel sign, a copy of the front cover of the Hergé book The Adventures of Tintin DESTINATION MOON, hangs on a red brick wall. The scene on the cover depicts a giant red and white checkered space rocket on a lattice work of metal girders. The rocket seems ready for take off. A blue Jeep speeds towards the launchpad with the balding, bespectacled Professor Calculus and Captain Haddock in the front. Tintin and his faithful white fox terrier Snowy sit perched in the rear. The Captain appears to be clad in a space suit with oxygen tanks on his back. Behind the launchpad, the sky is blue above a mountain range.

Just how do you reach a point in your life when you take part in something like this? They must have nothing to look forward to if they think that Tommy Ten Names is worth following and that standing in the street with a flag while screaming abuse at people they have never met is a good idea.
