Genuinely amazing. The quality of life improvements this will bring are huge, but still hope the research continues and they find a way to prevent it in the first place. Parkinson’s is so destructive.

F4 films are always trash. It doesn’t help they the keep making the same movie. I’ve no idea why they bothered, and if they’re going to insist the very least they can do is try a different story rather than Galactus/Silver Surfer over and over again…

Yep, trap it in something dark and move it, longer it goes on the more stressful and for animals like this stress can literally kill. That’s why it seemed docile, crippled by stress and fear. If you can’t trap, put a plank down soo it has a path out and just leave it alone to climb out.
GrumpyDragon (@onelastpreterition.bsky.social) reply parent
That’s not Trust, it’s a stress response basically crippling it. Stress like this in animals can be very dangerous, even lethal. Hope the little critter was ok. Best option would of been to trap it in something dark and move it or a plank for it to get out.

Also, if those planes were actually needed, some paint on the body work isn’t going to stop them being used. “We are being attacked, but we can’t send planes as they have words painted on the side of them and smiley faces!” The whole thing was monumentally blown out of proportion.
GrumpyDragon (@onelastpreterition.bsky.social) reply parent
You mean that organisation that got terrorist status for painting some planes? OH THE HORROR! The decision to classify was a ridiculous over reaction and a distortion of the spirit of the law. Starmer should be professionally embarrassed and personally ashamed.

Basically, the bible says we should wipe ourselves out. Can honestly say, as a species, we’ve taken some solid steps towards this goal and we’re making good progress.
GrumpyDragon (@onelastpreterition.bsky.social) reply parent
Try reading it again, and realise the comment was made to deliberately highlight the absurd nature of the bible and its contents. You either believe in the bible or you don’t, it is those who claim to believe but then exclude parts at their own leisure are the ones doing the cherry picking.

It’s not to the same degree (not seeing activity like ICE/deportation without process) but definitely worrying direction and removal of rights/freedoms. I would want to know what led to the classification of Palestine Action, it’s not a common thing to happen (or at least hasn’t been historically)

Tories took this much further, changes in legislation too a strong right-end approach making it possible to label almost any form of protest as illegal by classing it as “disruptive” or a “nuisance” I had hoped Labour would repeal it, instead it looks like they’re making use of it….
GrumpyDragon (@onelastpreterition.bsky.social) reply parent
There are laws that class extremist groups as hate groups/dangerous/criminal/terrorist activity and being associated or supporting is then illegal. I’d be curious to know the rationale here if this is real. Normally follows violence/organising violence and/or risk to UK population (like EDL)

They’ll see it as legitimising their views. As long as he provides a scapegoat that fits with their “other-ism” world view, they’ll sign up. Fromage has proved this, even to the extent people will destroy their own livelihoods if it means their struggles can be blamed on something they don’t like.

It’s genuinely mind blowing. Renewables paid not to generate and at the same time coal and gas paid to increase output. And it costs us hundreds of millions a year as taxpayers. Renewables should be constantly on, then coal and used to supplement when they don’t have high output.

Wouldn’t be surprised. Apparently he has already threatened some of the government contracts, he is likely to target anything that’s been done to ingratiate himself with musk. i’m expecting some of the investigations into musks companies that were killed off to come back if this carries on
GrumpyDragon (@onelastpreterition.bsky.social) reply parent
Frump and Musk are both misogynists, constantly dismissive and arrogant in the way they treat women. AOC’s comment is very deliberately worded. She knows they’ll see it, and it’ll cut that little bit deeper because of the comparison and their own perception of women.
GrumpyDragon (@onelastpreterition.bsky.social) reply parent
To be honest, we all knew that was the likely reason, but Elon really wants to stick the boot in. Knowing frump, I’m wondering if the next move is to reinstate the investigations that Elon managed to neuter through DOGE, or will he cancel contracts, or maybe both? I can see this getting very ugly…

I would also recommend looking into Positive Action, which are measure built into the equality act. Not quite the same as affirmative, and has conditions to it, but it’s a similar concept (more aimed at removing disadvantage/increasing representation rather than outright push for specific groups).
GrumpyDragon (@onelastpreterition.bsky.social) reply parent
There is also a lack of understanding around EDI, it’s not taught well/widely enough. i’ve seen it many times where there’s an overshoot and actual merit can get lost in the attempt. We are by no means experts and the approach to EDI variety hugely between different companies/employers.
GrumpyDragon (@onelastpreterition.bsky.social) reply parent
Arguably it also still exists, even if a tribunal would find an employer guilty, you have to pay up front for them so many never pursue. Countless businesses still have nepotistic or discriminatory approaches to employment and promotion, it’s often hard to prove/evidence.
GrumpyDragon (@onelastpreterition.bsky.social) reply parent
It is no longer policy, and hasn’t been for quite some time, plus the equalities act widened protections and put a more explicit line through discriminatory practices, but we have had them historically.
GrumpyDragon (@onelastpreterition.bsky.social) reply parent
This isn’t true. Public sector had affirmative action policies a couple of decades back. Policing is a classic example of it, where application and hiring policies advanced ethnic minority groups in an attempt to address major under representation of other ethnic groups in the Police Force
