Considering who has not been fighting for this, both sides btw, while their bank accounts swell off a (theoretical) $174k/yr salary we know who owns them. Thousandaires become millionaires in a few short years, corporate leaders bank millions, workers are stuck in the 70’s when it comes to living.
Unconscionable.
Save more, spend less. Prepare to make demands. Prepare for pushback. Prepare to be disappointed but don’t give up, don’t ever give up. WE drive the economy if we unite behind the concepts that will strengthen our positions.
WE drive the economy so until we drive the balance closer to the middle we need to figure out how to reduce the 3% compensation and increase worker compensation without raising prices. It IS possible, WE just have to demand it.
So on this #LaborDay I need people to recognize our sweat and tears as they apply to the economy. Work where you are taken care of and spend your money where those employees are taken care of. The lists are easy to find if you’re looking for them so find them.
And that is a man who I have always respected even if I did not always agree with him. Today his voice needs to be heard and amplified. Take care of people and they will take care of you has been my mantra even lacking a CBA.
I am absolutely NOT good with the 3% making more and more $$$ off the backs of labor and consumers. My stance is actually pro-balance but that principle is dead and gone. @robertreich.substack.com.web.brid.gy has great analytics on where we have regressed over the past few decades.
Now I have gotten even more pro-union because MAGA wants an undereducated and underpaid and underappreciated workforce and I am not good with that at all. I have always wanted employees to be appreciated but MAGA is destroying that foundation and is ok with people needing 2nd jobs to survive.
I have always been appreciative of the US workforce and not just on #LaborDay. For a large chunk of my working life I was anti-union because of restrictions and pass-along costs to consumers. That started changing in 2000 when I was in an anti-union state where employers were horrible.
As someone who graduated from a Christian U in 2007 but is not a churchgoer this is what I have tried to live by my entire life. There are two types of people in this world, good people and shitty people. Be a good people. Don’t attack, don’t belittle, don’t make excuses, the Golden Rule applies.
