It’s definitely an old school control scheme and the camera is your worst enemy but the gameplay is solid and really fun once you get used to the controls again.

Second attempt at congee turned out much better. Also much faster since I short cutted it by use it left over rice and bullion instead of making my own chicken stock first.

If you've got the breathing room to mourn a bit I wouldn't rush back. Make sure you're nice and refreshed because the current job market is pretty brutal and it may take you a while to find work. I essentially gave up and started relying on freelance after like 13 months of no momentum.

But why remake perfection? What could actually be improved by a remake that wouldn't risk missing part of the magic that makes this game special?
I'm sure MSG Delta is gonna be a great game, and it looks cool, but every time I see screenshots next to the original I can't help but feel like it's lost it's soul to Unreal Engine. They completely scrapped Kojima's art direction. All of the color-grading and dramatic lighting is just gone.

The art direction and Mitsudas score go a LOOOONG way to cover that games flaws.
Yup. It’s weird though, I’d point to the bloated character roster or the meandering plot, but Chrono Cross is one of my all time favorites and os objectively worse for all those reasons 🤣 Maybe ff6 will click for me one day.

Ooh I’m not sure how the PC port works. I’ve not heard anything good about it though. My first experience with it was on ZSNES where my biggest issue was a lack of alpha channel support on mode7 stuff so clouds in the future were opaque.
That’s fair. I think it works best in its original form. While I’d absolutely play a remake done in the style of Dragon Quest 11, a lot of CTs magic is the absolute mastery of the SNES era JRPG format. You’d lose that flavor with a remake.
As long as we can all agree to leave Chrono Trigger the fuck alone.
Gonna have to second this. Vagrant Story is definitely at the top with Xenogears a very close second and Parasite Eve pulling up right behind.

I started back into Hollowknight again last night, and FINALLY beat Hornet after like 15 more attempts. Then rage quite an hour later because of some giant roly-polys that spit fire and tiny roly-polys and are way too far away from a bench.

Facts. I was way more into Mora than Nina.
From the first time I saw the art she reminded me of a surly thirst-trap version of Mora from 0083 mixed. And after beating the game multiple times it still tracks.

Through general casual neglect and the occasional rage quit when they were younger my kids have broken 4 sets of joycons, my switch (the conrails don’t lock anymore at all and the charger port is loose) and both my ps5 controllers. One of them twice. I hate how fragile gaming tech has gotten
I am late to the Dandadan party, but holy shit this show is incredible. The X-Japan reference in this episode had me grinning ear to ear. Whatever cover band they got to do the song absolutely killed it.

I knew someone who had it. By the time I saw it, it was a few years old abd sat sadly in the corner with a few missing pieces. I played with it for a bit but I remember it being kinda disappointing. It looked so cool on the commercial and it did not nearly live up to that hype.

As a professional designer this terrifies me. I’ll bet just about anything this is using the language of my profession as an excuse to scrub all government websites of anything they don’t like. This is about control not design.
I could never beat Hornet the first time. I’m not great at games that require a lot of pattern recognition and timing. I can read the patterns alright but I can’t ever seem to execute the timing. TBH it’s a miracle I’ve beaten as many Megaman games as I have.
Or one Dreamcast and a significant portion of its game library.
