Not saying it can’t work, just seems like a mixture of hope and optimism, without structural changes to address spending and income.
Stocks have cash flows, innovation, productivity, creativity, etc behind them. BTC may continue to go up but I still don’t understand the strategy of adding more debt to *hopefully* reduce the debt in the future because the asset has gone up in value. It may work but it may not.
How does buying one million bitcoin (which increases the national debt) reduce the national debt?
Maybe I'm not sophisticated enough to understand this, but spending $100 billion (at today's price) on bitcoin on the hope that it goes up doesn't seem like a well thought strategy to reduce the nat debt. Why not buy stocks? They generally go up over time. Or have gov't do angel investing?

So many factors seem likely. Trump era stimulus which built up savings accounts, vaccine release in early 2021 (coinciding with a new administration) combined with lock down fatigue resulting in re-opening of businesses and Americans desire to get out and experience life again all contributed.
