There is a useful philosophical technique called Dialectical Thinking that I think is helpful. You take a question or idea and think about it at the same time as you think about its opposite. Why do vegans tell us they're vegan? Why don't I tell people about my dietary preferences?

Why does anyone put anything in their profile? The human identity is a compilation of personal preferences and beliefs AS WELL AS shared community values. In a world that is outwardly hostile toward vegans, finding others who share your beliefs becomes increasingly important. Sound familiar?
