You mean like, “the trolley problem” doesn’t specify whether the single person on the spur is your child or not?
Paul Kelleher (@paulkelleher.net) reply parent
Thanks. It was definitely a misreading on my part

Ah, thanks! For some reason (maybe just that I'm only two coffees in) I thought that was a link for ME to submit a comment to DOE if I wanted to.

If the trolley problem is "Is it ethically permissible to pull the lever in the original Spur case", do you still think that?

Dumb question but: I can't see to find a link to the Experts' response document itself at the website. A little help?

The Department of Energy hired five academics to raise doubts about climate change. 85+ climate experts (organized by @andrewdessler.com) reviewed their report. Our conclusion, detailed in 450 pages of analysis: it is biased, full of errors, and not fit to inform policy making.

In that case I’d probably just use Perusall. I think it’s a great system, and it does have that great @-everyone function, which I like to use when a comment/comment thread has raised an important point.
Paul Kelleher (@paulkelleher.net) reply parent
Hyp. is more involved to set students up in, and is lacking one key feature that Perusall offers, viz. the ability to @-reply the whole class (rather than single students, which Hyp. now has).
Paul Kelleher (@paulkelleher.net) reply parent
UW–Madison doesn't offer Perusall or Hypothesis integration with our LMS. When this is the case, Perusall has begun pestering instructors to let Perusall charge students a fee, and also there are copyright issues for readings I upload there. Hyp. is totally free & there are no copyright issues.
Paul Kelleher (@paulkelleher.net)
Instructors: Realize it's late in the day, but if you plan to use Hypothesis (the Perusall alternative) for social annotations this semester and your school's LMS doesn't come pre-integrated with it, I'd be happy to share the step-by-step instructions I wrote up, as well as a video tutorial I made.
