The pitching staff has been so mediocre this year..... will it matter? We keep waiting for them to return to last years form, but every week it's a mixed bag of some good starts and some bad starts.

he is an immensely talented player and I am so happy he is a Mariner. To me, his struggles at the plate (for his skill level) are all about approach. He gets beat on hard in and soft low away a lot. He doesn't fight pitches off with two strikes.
Does Julio know where the strike zone is? He swings at so much off the plate.

According to Baseball reference, the current OPS in MLB is .702. Your (if you are a #Mariners fan) Seattle Mariners have 7 hitters above that average. This does not Include Julio Rodriguez who currently has a .692. New hitting approach making a difference?
I'm sure the numbers are still bad, but probably more accurate to measure the % drop rather than the point value.

So this is a hate Mariners offense post, but do have to acknowledge that Logan Gilbert is filthy. That splitter is nasty and doing different things each times he throws it. Zero hits after 4..... and now i am really starting to get upset that even an average offense can't support the pitching.
Update: through 3, Mariners have 1 hit still and have scored zero runs, maybe saw 8 pitches in the last inning. Only saving grace is Logan Gilbert has allowed zero hits through 3.
Update.... through 2 innings the Mariners have 1 hit and no runs! Right on pace!
