It might not be illegal, but it's incredibly dumb to hide himself to put together his rifle. Lots of people there don't know him, and how does it look when a person comes walking back with rife he didn't have out before and there's threats to people marching. He was not being responsible.

Well, I'm on reddit a ton and posts from active duty, and their family members show that they're not happy at all with the administration. It's probably why Trump said that he wants to increase the military budget to a trillion dollars.
I was there. The venue holds 15k, but I made the mistake of getting there an hour early and had to wait with the 5K outside.
I'm a veteran, and those military personnel are just regular Americans with families. Also, we had classes on our responsibility to not follow illegal orders. The bad side is that sometimes ignoring orders can get you in trouble, but I'm willing to bet it's easier to decide if it's our citizens.
