FWIW I am exclusively referring to doing this accidentally, and even so a lot of the time it's the result of a society that places greater value on specific names. The way hosts on Fox News pretended Kamala Harris had an unpronounceable first name is an example of racism
My deadname was one I thought was very simple and yet I can count the number of Americans who could pronounce it on one hand. I look at the name Siobhan with fear. I met Andrzej Sapkowski and had to be corrected on his first name. People mess up names they don't know.
I dont think accidental mispronunciation of names is racist (except insofar as "we live in a racist society") and I was annoyed that GRRM was called that for mispronouncing names. That the exact same people who got mad at him for it did it themselves is both mild proof in his favor and schadenfreude

I normally find Wyatt Russell very bland, just sorta randomly likeable. There are great nepo babies out there (Jack Quaid) but Wyatt seemed to be purely a pretty face. He was actually interesting in Thunderbolts.

This is somewhat unfair, I have some family members who like gefilte fish, but it was always really funny to me that the guy I knew who *loved* it came from a gefilte-free society.

WRT horror, he's a terrible example to cite now, but Neil Gaiman has always been a master of shortform horror who got lost whenever he wrote something longer than 30 pages. The strength of Sandman was that it gave him space to write shortform horror and pretend it was a series.

Witcher started out as an R rated Raimi show, took a detour into sheer insanity in season 2, and tried to course correct in season 3. I enjoy it quite a bit but good god.
I vaguely remember Camelot (a dark and edgy King Arthur show starring Vecna and a whole lot of boobs), but yeah, most are post-GOT, just like how the wave of terrible mystery shows started after the LOST finale.
I think I disagree with that conclusion, because there is a wave of TV fantasy, it just sort of drowned.
I think the Harry Potter thing has a lot to do with WB not having many successful properties and wanting to use one that's been mostly hits, as well as JKR wanting to replace Radcliffe/Watson/Grint with people who might agree with her.
Both of those Charlies are so good in the season. I don't like season 2 much, but Sauron is great in it. He's awful in season 1 but I blame the writing in it. Galadriel, who was breathtaking in season 2, was kind of meh in season 2.
I just *loved* the Sauron/Celebrimbor plot.
Don't get me wrong I'm excited for the Geralt recast and I'm not Cavill's biggest fan but nobody's going to be as amazing in action sequences as Cavill was. The man's a beast.
Rings of Power had the fall of Eregion which was a great sequence (though honestly I'm just blinded by the excellent quality of Charlies the show has.
Lord of the Rings did things on a scale and quality level that no one has since but Game of Thrones had the battle of the Blackwater, battle of the Bastards (which I disliked but is popular), Hardhome (same). Witcher had a duel between Geralt and Vilgefortz that was cool.
I feel like Game of Thrones moved it out of movie theaters. We're getting these shows on TV with Witcher, Wheel of Time (RIP), Rings of Power, Legend of Vox Machina, probably like 5 others that don't immediately come to mind.
No idea when it started butmost politicians either have a childish nickname or a first name that sounds like one. My guess is it's a holdover from their military service, because you tend to get the dumbest names in the military and they follow you around for ages.
This is one of those things I have less sensitivity for, being Israeli, as our habit is to give politicians the dumbest nickname imaginable (Bibi and Benny have been prime figures for a while, the president is Buji, we had Tzippi and Bogi and Mota and a whole lot of others)

A story that's stuck in my head is that, on the set of The Expanse, Burn Gorman realized he'd signed himself onto a huge sci fi show and enlisted Wes Chatham to explain the full lore of the series to him so he doesn't fuck it up. It's such a fun mental image.
