In my opinion, the real problem is that no one has even really tried to organize a boycott of X. Certainly, no organizations, coalitions, or national leaders have attempted to lead a boycott. From where I sit, it feels like a failure of the progressive movement across the board.

There might be another light here. There are estimates that 64% of users on X are bots. This would put X at closer to 47 million live users. Bluesky says it’s around 30 mil last I saw. I’m hoping this pushes Germany to ban it totally. I don’t think that has happened yet.

I've gotten 2 orgs here in Canada to stop using twitter since February/25. Had also asked 2 others but they didn't respond or stop. I'll be asking them again this week. There's no perfect platform but there's no excuse for using a clearly nazi loving one.

The main problem with calling to boycott X is that people have spent almost a decade building their accounts on that platform, which is a means of getting revenue or tied directly into livelihood. Simply walking away from that might be impossible for some for many reasons, Ppl/livelihood/network/etc

From my limited POV, Twitter still has a ton of COVID patients, advocates, researchers, and providers who do not have the mental energy to transition to a new platform and build up their audience here. I think we need to convince them that it's easier than they think it will be.
