reading about the crumbl cookie founder who was outed by some tiktoker should remind us, especially those of us in the queer community, should NEVER publicly speculate or gossip about someone’s sexuality. Outing someone is horrible. Gay men especially are so toxic about this.
Let people be who they are on their own terms. Their sexuality is not for you to gawk at bc you want them to be gay because you’re a thirsty toxic f*g who lacks perspective. It’s troubling because I’ve found men, even gay men, so problematic in queer spaces. Even when you’re out it’s not always safe
Whether it’s Shawn Mendes, Crumbl guy, or anyone else, being a gay man and calling someone gay or suggesting they are is not good! What if they’re currently struggling to come out and are trying to find a safe space to do so and what they see are nasty queens with out of pocket comments?
That space doesn’t feel safe at all. As a gay man, we need to do better. Talking with lesbians, trans people, queer POC, my eyes have been opened to the toxicity with gay men. Let’s be better for everyone in our community and those looking for a safe spot to land within it.
