Rheinmetall has opened a new munitions factory in Unterlüss, Germany—built in just 1.5 years. Once at full capacity, it could become Europe’s largest artillery shell production site, possibly even the world’s. Output is set to hit 350,000 shells annually, with much headed to Ukraine.

If it weren't for the United States being the world's greatest producer of military arms. The United States would be far less relevant in dealing with Putin. Europeans have certainly learned how unreliable the American voters are in supporting democracy.

You can thank the Republican't Party for that. I don't know much about munitions manufacturing but is 350,000 a year a lot? That's about 40 an hour assuming 24/7 operation. Say they have 4 parallel lines, that's 10 / hour per line, or 6 mins per shell at the bottleneck.

Europe is preparing for war. Should Russia prevail in Ukraine it will come soon. Should Ukraine prevail, it will only delay Russia's ambitions to invade Europe. Russia has shown their intentions and the West had best prepare for the inevitable.

Any chance you could have @vonderleyen.ec.europa.eu do something more than a strongly worded condemnation? It’s very demoralizing. If she said “our next condemnation will come in the form of a squadron of Mirages” it would be better.

Greece isn't going to give major military tech away due to Turkey. The EU should rather introduce stringent controls on the black fleet ships. A two day control when entering and when leaving lake NATO will cause them to ship less oil per month.

Things are being done, but we do lack enough ships to both safeguard Greenland from the US, contain the Russian fleet(s), and at the same time stop all of the ghost ships. More things we need to build, and ships are truly annoying in that they take almost a decade to plan and build.

We can definitely order some, but the time to delivery would be somewhat prohibitive. Better to request that some are seconded to EDF through EUMS. Note that this is a micro-account, probably of Hungarian nature.

Not entirely, there are arms owned by EU directly. But Mirage planes are not one of those. EU can though via EUMS ask for them into EDF if needed.

US fighters don't have a kill switch. The kill switch nonsense was irresponsible speculation by a journalist. If it DID have a kill switch, then an opponent could discover it and use it - there's no way to build any software with a 'back door' that is not vulnerable like this.
