After Trump got re-elected I made sure to make my big purchases immediately thereafter. By April I was done and have just been saving ever since. I know I'm not alone and that consumers like me were making the economy look better than what it actually was. Now numbers are catching up.
This is precisely what I did. A years worth of anything I could afford to put back, coffee, dog food etc. Finally got a new phone. Buckled down for the long haul.
I did the same thing. I tried to get done before the inauguration, but I would replace things I used right before the next set of tariffs were due until early summer. Now I am trying to stick to a strict grocery budget and only replace what is broken.

I have a teeny garden space, but so many trees on my property that I don't have enough sun to make a larger garden; and my efforts at growing my own have had scattered, minimal success. But I have been thinking about how I might find another spot to turn into a garden for veggies. Necessity.
Check online for growing bulbs—they make ones for normal lamps so you can at least have some herbs and a small lettuce table inside? And there are some crops that prefer shade. I don’t do much bc it gets so damn hot here and I wilt like a sissy, so I CSA it with a farm down the road 💛

The reason home sales are good, is because it’s a cyclical market and sales are always good in the summer quarter because people try to move when their kids are out of school preferably. Just as home sales are characteristically depressed and slow in winter months.

Yea alot of places are putting out inventory from last year, I've noticed that as well. My sister lives in the LA area, all the stores there look normal because they are close to the LA port and bigger. Smaller rural area are going to see the effects first.
For example leading up to the pause we only had 75k of sales for 4 week window, tariff pause implemented and 750k in orders for the next 4 weeks. If youre in rural areas look at your stores. My costco has ZERO Halloween and it's almost September, same with Lowe's. Bigger areas will get the inventory

Tariffs do encourage domestic supply but the costs don't go down, domestic producers charge just slightly less than importers with tariffs included. That is the fiduciary responsibility of a CEO and Board of Directors. Shareholders will demand nothing less. Thus, prices will increase and stay high.
