I reminded myself of this over and over when I was painting my kitchen cabinets deep teal blue and choosing green tile with stars for my backsplash.

I am so tired of muted greys and pastels. I am ready for a new age of jewel tones!!!
Also my fair olive-toned skin looks like shit in pastels. I go to order a dress & it comes in pastels & three shades of grey or blue but no red. I can find coral and peach and salmon and russet but no RED. Give me crimson, or give me death!
I HATE the all white and gray trend. I hope it’s dying away soon.
I concur!
Is it too bold to want to see a picture? It sounds fabulous!
It’s not quite finished or I would show it off. Soon!
Wonderful! Something to look forward to!😊
When we were home shopping I saw SO MUCH GRAY. For the life of me I can't fathom why PNW homes went so in on the gray trend. Absolutely hate. We had to settle for (lightish) gray LVP flooring and carpet in the home we bought. But at least it wasn't cabinets, counters, or walls.
Exactly why we painted the outside of the house a dark blue green grey color. So much blandity about. Plus, the dark color makes the plants and flowers stand out.
Our house is light grey with black doors (ugh!) but was done 1-2 years before our purchase in '23, so it doesn't make maint or $$$ sense to repaint house yet. We WILL be painting the black doors our previous house color to at least give it a pop. The color looks much brighter irl.
To be fair we settled for all the grey because the house gave us 95% of what we were looking for (including a great 1/3 acre lot) and we knew eventually all the grey could be changed though it might be a ways down the road.
Our house was already yellow and I don’t know that I would have chosen in but I like it as a backdrop to the garden now. And it’s cheerful in our long gray winters.
Yellow is definitely a color featured in our plantings. We will (someday) have the (new) front door painted yellow. Very cheerful when it’s grey out.
Eventually those will get changed. And the white everywhere walls will be painted. (here's to knowing our colors from the last house!). Debating on painting the white kitchen cabinets one of these colors. (maybe bottoms only).
Ooh. I love a sagey olivey green. I’d send you our colors but my phone pictures aren’t reflecting the real color at all.
these are screenshots from the paint manufacturers. The second one was what we painted our prior bedroom (and will again here). It looks less yellowish irl.
The countertop is one of those sparkly quartz types. Not my fave but it was recent and in good shape. The sparkles have a tendency to look silvery / grayish, painting the cabinets green will hopefully bring out that more "sea glass" type tone in it.
We literally put in sparkly quartz countertops with a sea glass green in it. And the green absolutely does help it come out.
Thank you for my external validation! 🙃
I’m excited for you!
Well it's not yet, lol! But eventually. Looking forward to your pictures also!
very bold! This is our countertop. The sparkles always look darker in photos.
I am jealous of the courage to go bold. I am good at bold accents (eg furnishings and pillows and such) but shy away from it on walls. Admittedly I am not great at visualizing, and it's easier with the more muted / pastel tones.
Here are the colors from the website. The blue is the lower cabinets. Lighter green is walls and uppers. Darker green is trim and then the tile is green with dark blue grout and some white stars.
We did our top cabinets a paler version of that and the trim close to that color. With a deeper green tile.
