They are so big! I have a handful of dinner plate varieties and the trick is making sure the stems grow strong enough that they don’t just fall over. I have not mastered it.

I’ve been known to use large basil leaves like a lettuce wrap and just scoop and scarf.

This one I do take personally. The custodial staff IS staff. I take them as seriously as anyone else who cares for and interacts with kids in a school. They break up fights, befriend kids, clean up after them and make the built environment reflect the school’s values — how kids see themselves.
I went to a K-8 school and had the same custodian the entire time. As an adult when I heard that he passed (years after a well earned retirement), I sat down and cried my eyes out. I remember him as fondly as even my favorite teachers.
100%. Also, because they aren’t tied to a certain class or grade, they often have multi-year relationships with students. Our custodians at my school knew us from little kids to big kids and knew our secrets and when we got in trouble and when we got awards. They know our kids.

Our house was already yellow and I don’t know that I would have chosen in but I like it as a backdrop to the garden now. And it’s cheerful in our long gray winters.

We did too. It grows in Southern Oregon, where my mom’s family is from and where our family beach cabin is. So it’s special to all of us.

Our butcher block is just in this section (my main food prep area) and it’s Oregon myrtlewood, just sealed with food grade oil and beeswax.
I bought a new stove! It’s modern and induction and it’s going to look so nice with my new counters and backsplash.
We just painted our cabinets rather than replacing. We did pay for new countertops (quartz and butcherblock) because the old ones were falling apart (and were horrible Formica). But we had to wait until the money lined up, for sure.
It’s been so satisfying seeing it actually realized. It was one thing on swatches and in my head. But it actually works. The room looks so amazingly different and so much better.
I tend toward an accent wall and bold accents but in the kitchen I just wanted color and NOT WHITE OR GRAY.
Here are the colors from the website. The blue is the lower cabinets. Lighter green is walls and uppers. Darker green is trim and then the tile is green with dark blue grout and some white stars.
We literally put in sparkly quartz countertops with a sea glass green in it. And the green absolutely does help it come out.

We did our top cabinets a paler version of that and the trim close to that color. With a deeper green tile.

I reminded myself of this over and over when I was painting my kitchen cabinets deep teal blue and choosing green tile with stars for my backsplash.
