me: ok well i think cumulatively i've probably seen like 60% of batman via clips him: no you haven't and that DOESN'T COUNT

You should watch them. The first one is pretty solid and then of course there is Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman, which is probably the most iconic interpretation.
see this is where the autism hits: i have seen all of catwoman's scenes, i know that michelle pfeiffer had to be sewn into the suit, i know that her catwoman was so successful that they wanted to make a solo movie but it ended up in development hell and eventually became the halle berry one
he also found out that i never saw edward scissorhands because i watched the end of it and it was sad, so i decided i didn't want to watch the rest of it
he's dyin because normally, i am the Movie Guy, but while my brain is packed full of trivia, there are certain huge and very funny blind spots because my autism did not run in that direction. for example, i never saw the batman movies because i liked robin and robin wasn't in those
That is the most valid reason for not watching something, ever. ...I say as a huge Trek nerd in my teens who now in my 40s has still not seen every ToS episode because not every episode contained Chekov.
GOD this was me with batman the animated series though. i taped the episodes while i was at school and then would fast forward to see if robin was in them. no robin, no watch. eventually i watched most of them but i was ride or die for dick grayson (ps i love star trek ToS, my dad was a trekkie)
lmao my partner is the same to me, I'm the movie geek and she REFUSES TO WATCH THE SECOND VOLUMN OF KILL BILL JUST TO GET A RISE OUT OF ME! But yeah, I did the same thing with Breaking Bad actually lol
honestly i think she's making the right choice on volume 2
Say whaaaaat D: But the storytelling is SUPER GO- jk, I appreciate and respect all opinions on movies, it's all super subjective. I love Volumn 2 but it was definitely a different vibe and style from the first one. Why didn't you like it?
it's been years since i saw it, but it was one of those films where i kept waiting for it to get good and that never happened. plus anytime tarantino has a character play Author's Mouthpiece, the point that the character is making is so dumb that i start wondering if he's doing a bit
That's very understandable and valid, normal people don't speak with so umm...I guess I'd say 'theatrically'? I felt that during the Superman monologue.
that one is bad even for him, like the takeaway from superman is 1) objectively wrong and 2) specifically the kind of wrong that Film Guys love because a film guy proves his bona fides to his fellows by watching the same movies everybody else does and then making the goofiest interpretation possible
Yeeeaaah at their core his films are really "filmy", in that it has a slight air of trying too hard to impress or reference. Personally I still really enjoy the film but you're definitely right x3 Thank you for the 10:00pm film chat! <3
thank YOU!! fwiw i was a big fan of 1, and i have a deep affection for david carradine and his awful, awful filmography so having him in 2 was great. he almost sold that superman speech! that's an oscar-worthy performance right there
YEA David really carried that character, gave Bill a lot of weight despite hardly seeing him in the first volume. The character could have easily been overhyped and turn out to be a disappointment, but not with David playing that character :3
it's true
