It sucks that they live such short lives ! π
theyβre pretty long! males of this species can live around 8 years, though that pales in comparison to femalesβ 20+ years
Oooh! I was thinking they were like jumping spiders. Female tarantulas living that long vs the males is so crazy!
itβs nuts!!! i was absolutely stunned when i started looking into keeping them. some of the really slow-growing females can live for 25+ yearsβthe males of those species last for around 8 max. and because the females keep growing, the size difference between a mature male and female is TERRIFYING
nature is crazy LOL and omg i can imagine - i'm more into snake keeping and the size difference between males and female is wild, esp when you see them mate like my guy you should be terrified
My condolences
he was a t. vagans named pinky, a very good and sweet boy
Sorry for your loss. Great age for a boy child.
yeah i think he gets the award for my longest lived after maturing so far. truly the strongest of men
pinky was part of a group of seven tarantulas we took in from someone who could no longer keep their collection. most of the males have now lived out their life cycles, which is a very bittersweet success. all of the females are still going strong and will hopefully go for many years more
Aaaw condolences for your spidy β‘
