yes we must
here's a script for people to use: "hi, (name) here, a user of (card company) here. i'd like to file a complaint, (card company) should have any say in what items, games, content i should be purchasing. as a longtime customer with (card company) I'm incredibly angered by this and I will find-
another payment processor if they refuse to back off of adult and queer content. collective shout and anti-porn activists are falsifying complaints to steam and itch .io. you will lose business by interfereing in the private lives of others and what they can legally purchase.-
the motivated complaints of a few should not impact the purchasing rights of all your customers." (remember to be nice to the customer service representative)
Good plan. Maybe even call the EU ones too.
- Go on Linkedin. - Find high level employees of the companies in your area - Search your connections and local groups for connections - Reach out via social media or phone/mail (using local records) - Send them a direct personal message about who they work for
Yeah no do NOT do this, that's way too personal.
I mentioned this in another post, PayPal has banned using it to pay for adult content for *years* and bans accounts it finds were used for that purpose, keeping any money they were holding. It's pointless to try to change their policies. Visa/MC should be the ones to concentrate on.
Complained to them regardless. I'm doing what I can to put pressure on *all* of these institutions.
American Express is here officially. They suck when it comes to adult content. @americanexpress.bsky.social
While we're at it, here's an ACLU petition that should be worth signing.

Very useful for Americans to sign, yes!
And this one if you're not from the US. chng.it/XTD2KddsrM
My issue is when I call Mastercard, even after entering my info, I can't talk to a person, just a robocall the whole time.
When I called Mastercard (first number) I just got the phone tree until I just input a bunch of numbers at random and then 0 like 20 times, it gave up and sent me to an actual person. They were kinda confused by the nature of the complaint at first but if more people call it might become clearer.
It hangs up on me whenever I try and press 0, telling me my input is invalid.
Wow, button mashing somehow worked!
In Latin America, there is a website called reclame aqui (complain here) where consumers can complain about companies going against consumer rights to hold companies accountable and make their rights be obeyed. You should fill these places with complaints as well if you have them!
What should we say? I have horrific phone anxiety, but I could manage to do it if there is a small pre-written script. I just need to know what the important talking points are.
There's a few in the comments, but here's one I made if it helps! bsky.app/profile/iant...
Thank you! I'll check out the rest of the examples.

I'll ask them why I should continue to use a payment service that arbitrarily limits what I can pay for
Are there any equivalents to these for South American residents? Ideally in Chile?
For Chile, Mastercard's support number seems to be 1230-020-2012
I think we should probably also send emails to them.... Also I reckon mentioning how they are doing the bidding of organizations that have had (If I can find the post that had the deets about I will share it here) already been discovered defending pedophiles in their ranks.
Found it bsky.app/profile/daff...
Lmao. Got a screenie of it or something?
Dammit....
Apparently there is a scan of it on wayback machine from when it was still up, from like 4 hours ago, but you have to log in to see it and that doesn't work for me. Is that anything?

Please don't encourage people to contact individuals directly. The company is one thing, individuals is another; that could get anyone who does it in trouble for harassment or something. I strongly recommend only sharing customer support and other publicly available lines if you choose to complain.
Those lines are there too - the rest is publicly available information. I kinda already posted this in places, but I've got no problem with it if someone wants to snip out the execs and whatnot, and post that version. Sorry, I'm...a little desperate, and doing my best.
I understand that. This is affecting a lot of people. Just don't do anything that could get you, or yourself, in trouble, ok? We have to go about this the right way.
That paypal number super isn't working.
Good luck to anyone concerned, hope things will get better ❤️
bruh they caved to only 1000 people vs millions of their customers? these companies are so pathetic. anyway we should yell even louder.
This is a useful resource. Oh, I also recently discovered a bill being considered called the "fair access to banking act", it's a US bill that will force banks to proceed payments for any entity that's in legal standing. We might want to spread that too.
That shit is backed by the gop tho and its writing isnt as hopeful as you'd think
I don't care who backs it as long as the bill will close the abuse we're currently sitting through. And please elaborate on what about the writing you think isn't as hopeful as it seems.
it permits declaring something as "abusive" to retroactively making the bill apply to it. Which is to say, if in the future trans media is declared "abusive", the bill applies anyways
Basically it says that if you don't break the law, you shouldn't be subject to payment interference, which is a dog whistle meaning like, preventing banks from refusing loans to nazis. And notably the GOP is making every attempt to illegalize LGBT stuff, which would mean it would't be protected here
Um, correct me if I’m wrong here. But if a transaction is deemed illegal already, your bank already blocks it, see fraud blocks. This seems like a positive bill. And yes if the other things are made illegal that’s a separate law to worry about and protest.
No, this is a horrible libertarian bill that will just make it easier to do evil under the definition of law
Fair access to banking bill will benefit the daily sturmer, not smut creators/consumers
Can you explain to me how? Cuz I hear you that it’s republican so it mustnt be all good, but I see a benefit in it
Let's consult the bill's author for that. This really sucks. www.cramer.senate.gov/news/press-r...
I see that yes it can also be used for coal and certain industries. But I see nothing wrong with the essence of that bill. Sometimes good bills will also do good things to bad industries because we can’t discriminate against them
Looks like I'm going to sleep depressed tonight 🙏 I've got to look things over more thoroughly when I'm not dead tired. There's got to be a bright side or silver lining. I refuse to be all doom and gloom over this.
This bill is the very definition of "removing safeguards under the guise of helping the consumer using wording that looks like it's actually adding something", please become more literate or less willing to interject an uninformed opinion
Someone's mentioned it in the comments. Glad we're all getting on this; it's pretty heartwarming to see as a community. :3
I’ve heard the bill is actually pretty sketchy. One of those things with a nice name that actually does the opposite of what it claims. Like a financial patriot act.
I'm definitely doing this when I get home
If anyone get their EU numbers, please share.
Let's fucking do it! Make their existence a living hell until they reverse this
I just called the Mastercard line twice and can't figure out how to get through to a person or even leave a message. Anybody manage to do so?
Just be warned. They didn't do this blindly. The CEO of MasterCard is a well documented Christian fundamentalist who has used lesser reasons as an excuse to go after content that they don't like.
And if I find his phone number I’ll cuss him out too
I strongly recommend not going after individuals in any way, shape, or form. Sticking to the proper channels is how we were put into this mess, and it's how we'll get out of it - the almighty feedback reigns supreme!
I know, I wasn’t telling anybody to go do that though. I said I would cuss him out personally I don’t have to call him to do that lol However I am sharing any resource that connect to the proper channels that people can use.
I'd advise (polite but strongly worded) letters to the office of CEO Michael Miebach. If you could find a secretarial email address/office contact info. Do NOT be a nutjob and go for a home address or personal email. There are reasonable ways to contact CEOs. www.mastercard.com/us/en/news-a...
Yeah, never contact INDIVIDUALS, ever. That stuff is heinous. Always, always, be above board and go through the proper channels on this.
Actually contacting CEOs through their office is above board.
That sounded like I was being contradictory sorry, currently going through ha migraine haha
No, I understand, I just don't want people to get themselves or others in potential trouble. Someone posted executive numbers which, I'm sure they're publicly available, but that feels too sketchy imo.
This may also be of use: chng.it/WHLcwkHZz6
IF you decide to contact these companies, be it phone, email, or whatever, be polite and friendly. The customer service people are not responsible for their business' policies, and they deal with enough shit as is.
And obviously be above board and don't do anything weird if you decide to contact these companies.
Please don't encourage people to contact individuals directly. The company is one thing, individuals is another; that could get anyone who does it in trouble for harassment or something. I strongly recommend only sharing customer support and other publicly available lines if you choose to complain.
Going to have to close comments incase more people do this. Please don't. Spread the word and be polite, friendly, and above board!
Alternative Mastercard numbers are as follows: Mastercard (Aus): 1800-120-113 Mastercard (US): 1-800-307-7309 Mastercard (UK): 0800-96-4767
For sec I legit thought these were credit card numbers and not phone numbers xD
Also, Stripe can be contacted at: complaints@stripe.com bsky.app/profile/daff...
Here's a good additional resource of contact details for various payment processors: yellat.money
I've been calling AND emailing, myself. I think doing both is a good idea.
Some more petitions and stuff to sign! <3 bsky.app/profile/mlgf...
Very informative
How do we contact then? It literally hangs up if you say you aren't a cardholder for mastercard. Do we lie?
Ye
The problem with that is when I called Visa to file my complaint, they did ask for my card number. Luckily I have a Visa card, but my guess is they aren't going to care if you're not a member.
I doubt most of the 1000 Collective Shout supposedly gathered to contact payment providers were with all of them, either. The voice of the public is important, too.
I wouldn't recommend that. I'd either insist you're a member of the public with a general complaint, or only contact the provider you're with.
another thing if you are in the US this bill was introduced calling senators demanding they support this bill would make this nonsense going on atm illegal www.congress.gov/bill/119th-c...
📌
A question I'd like to ask them is why an Australian hate group is allowed to dictate what I, an American, am allowed to buy from American storefronts.
Sorry to double post here, but I managed to get some phone numbers and support form sites that might be helpful. bsky.app/profile/demo...
I found that calling this Visa number didn't work, as the people here can only handle complaints regarding cards and accounts from what I can tell (unless I'm doing something wrong?) I did however find what appears to be the number for Visa's headquarters. Do with that what you will
also: usa.visa.com/Forms/contac...
Is there a way to email them? I fear that if I call one of these numbers I'll be chraged
would be nice to have a script so my autistic low-energy ass could handle it
I'll work on that. It does not help that the numbers feel inconsistent; the poor Visa guy insisted it was for lost cards, but it *is* stated to be general as well. I worked in customer support - you get anyone sent your way. Be kind and considerate to whoever you talk to! <3
"I'd like to complain about recent policies your company has installed that stigmatise adult content. It is my belief that this harms businesses by minority groups, like the LGBT+ community. I would like you guys revise this policy, as I would prefer to continue using your services."
thank you
I would change 'It is my belief' and swap that for outright saying 'This harms businesses.' It's a more Active Voice. And maybe use 'MasterCard/Visa' over 'you guys'. Sent a complaint using this script as a base.
great information thank you so much! I need to find their email addresses though since I'm outside of US and Australia.
You seem to be from Japan, if I'm not mistaken? I suggest looking for customer support pages to contact them through. For Mastercard Japan, their customer portal number appears to be 00531-11-3886. :)
“Hello, my name is (insert name), and I would like to file a complaint. I find it very troubling that Mastercard is blocking content on the platforms I use and making it difficult for me to make legal purchases. I am going to stop using Mastercard if this isn’t rescinded and fixed."
Saving this.
Woah what a coincidence, my name is also (insert name)!
