27. As a teen I shipped them but as an adult, I have grown & I recognize how someone worthy of Janeway should act (& be written) and Chakotay ain't it. He's a snooze and too self-righteous.

It doesn't help that I have issues with the actor. The writers of my favourite Trek shows largely worked with what the actors were giving them, and Beltran wasn't committed to his character in the same way that (for example), Robert Picardo or Nana Visitor were committed to theirs.

28. Perhaps also a common one: I don't like seeing the biracial characters hating their "alien" side. B'Elanna needed more to do than self-hatred and anger management. It sends a terrible message to biracial viewers, among other things. Entire essays have been written, seek them out.

29. A lot of things that rile up Trekkies honestly do not bother me. Especially in the post-Disco era. I'm happy to have so much Trek now, and if I am not hugely into something, there is lots to watch! If I hear people whine about the Klingons' appearance in Disco, just gonna roll my eyes.

Hot take: It's not a true Trek *unless* they redesign the Klingons.

30. A lot of you are still sleeping on Prodigy, and it is absolutely fantastic. It is going off Netflix soon, so buy the physical copies and watch it! There are no boring episodes. The writing is tight & the team loves Trek. Brilliant work all around. 🖖🏻✨ Go fast!

Prodigy is such a masterpiece in so many ways, from the storytelling, the worldbuilding to the actors themselves. They breathed a lot more back story to more legacy characters, and having Janeway back in the saddle always makes me smile.

Season 2 gave the entire franchise a narrative spine, which I thought was impossible given how old it is. Absolutely incredible season.

31. Q "dying" in Picard was dumb. Season 2 of that show was a fail. Thank god we got s3, we needed the band back together. And I was LIVING for all the great Dr Crusher moments! Amanda Plummer was also stellar. The energy of s3 was leaps ahead of s2.

32. Tilly is a great character. Anyone who craps on her in my presence will receive swift and definitive judgement. Science is fucking cool; she is right. I have witnessed comments from 99.9% men about her & I will end you if I see that behavior. Online, IRL, on a con stage. Will rumble.

I adore Tilly. Someone on Reddit did the math and figured out that she was probably classmates with James T. Kirk, and my headcanon is that he was the boyfriend she talks about sitting on a roof with in the S4 finale.

oh yeah, Tilly was adorable from the start, and then she developed some badassery. We definitely need more of THAT level of science enthusiasm.

33. Those Old Scientists is perhaps the greatest work of new Trek series, it is perfect. Tawny Newsome and Jack Quaid elevated the game; I loved every second. I think it is the most-watched new ep for me. It bears repeat viewing. Such a love letter to the franchise.

My only critique of that episode was that we didn't get more of Boimler and La'an working together. I thought they had great chemistry, especially with La'an understanding how Boimler feels about the time travel challenges. Also we need her to have an opportunity to use the Grapplers.

34. Also can't say enough good things about Lower Decks. Lovingly crafted, all the characters are memorable and fabulous, the Easter eggs are epic, another dedicated, fantastic team. Mariner is top tier, Tawny is excellent always. Dr. T'Ana 😂😂😂 in particular always cracks me up.

35. We did not get enough of Grudge the cat. I wanted a weird Grudge-centric episode. Maybe she turns into a human! Maybe she is part Flerken! Maybe she eats something she shouldn't & shenanigans ensure. You get the idea. My cat would fully eat an alien plant & cause problems.

36. Fans seem to be irritated by episodes with shenanigans. My siblings in Christ, this is Star Trek. The history of shenanigans is vibrant! Lean in! SNW s3 ep 2, Wedding Bell Blues, is good fun dressed in formal wear. "The gods mess with the mortals" is an ancient plot device. Let it ride!

37. Mads Mikkelsen needs to add Star Trek to his franchise gauntlet. His wardrobe also needs to be sexy. Space pirate Mads, charming and here to steal your girl before saving the day. A great guest star for SNW, yes? Call me for more ideas!
