China's been eyeing the long game for a while now on many levels like tech, medical, agricultural, educational, energy, territorial globally & if the dollar slides far enough will be economically & succeeding in these areas mightily. This has been exponentially accelerated by Trump administration.

People should understand that's it's also still happening in the US too despite malicious headwinds. Last year 96% of newly installed power generation capacity was zero emission. Only 4% was fossil fuels. And that's mostly a function of market forces making renewables the cheapest option.

For example, that built manufacturing capacity doesn't go away even with Trump's hostile policies. I would expect continued growth to slow for now, but what's built is built.

Graph showing the growth of solar manufacturing capacity in the US through Q1 of 2024. The graph shows that the solar manufacturing capacity of the US has nearly tripled from the passage of the Inflation Reduction Act in Q3 2022 through Q1 of 2024.

Why are we still living in the 20th century? It’s because there is a lot of money to be made from coal, oil and gas. What would happen if everyone had solar panels on their homes? Poor people wouldn’t have to worry about utilities being turned off.
