You don't think in that situation the vast majority of people would call a tree surgeon?

Depends if they have the coin to do that and whichever is cheaper. Actually you can rent a chainsaw. But that's not super cheap either. Especially if you had to take courses and have a waiting period to do so. But if your pets or livestock keep getting attacked by wolves, you can't rent a gun.

share.google/wiZutDsIGJwg... Interesting no indication of the 250 figure but it appears most chainsaw deaths are caused by kickback rather than cutting yourself.

I don't know, but I do know from now on whenever I here about a chainsaw death I'm thinking some people need to be questioned. It's the great chainsaw murder cover-up conspiracy! Maybe chainsaw manufacturers have been lining politicians' pockets with bribes all this time!

You mean like gun manufacturers do with not allowing the CDC to research gun deaths?

Exactly! Now all we need to do is figure out what to do with the thousands of Americans employed by those manufacturers and what to do with the empty factories if that sector of employment is eliminated, and we're good!

If they did it with typists they can do it with gun manufacturers. Some will still work for the military market some will just have to pull themselves up by the bootstraps and find another job.

Not sure there's a few hundred thousand manufacturing jobs available. If so I imagine many would require relocation, which is a bit tough to do with no income. Then the significant others need to quit their jobs too, any kids will need to leave their friends and go to new schools... seems untenable.

Absolutely can see the case for farmers to own varmint rifles. Less so can I see a purpose for open or concealed carry in any urban or suburban setting.

Well, it might come in useful in situations like if you're in a Manhattan office building and someone is coming in to do some murder. Seems like it could be handy for that sort of situation. Plus, it's not as if homicidal maniacs stick to just one zip code. In fact, many have been known to wander.

Nah, the person a gun is most likely to kill its owner, accident or suicide. Unless you're part of a well regulated militia doing a lot of training you're probably not going to be much use surprised in a fire fight. Not giving loads of people guns means fewer crazy people get them too.

Unless they're law enforcement or military, because those professions are widely commended for their sound judgment and never produce homicidal maniacs or people prone to violence. As for training, I don't know a single gun owner who isn't in favor of it if it's provided at no cost.
