There was a Blue Thunder series as well. Frankly disappointed that Manamal and Automan aren't included.

There's also the fact that England is not the UK, using the Union flag and meaning England kinda annoys the Welsh and Scottish. So all those fans in Italia 90 with a union fag would much prefer them to use St George and please get a different anthem England.

Enoch Powell was fired for his rivers of blood speech. That wouldn't have happened now. Part of fighting racism is that it has to be unacceptable in "polite society". A chunk of the media is making it acceptable once more. It is all of our duty to oppose this.

Those things that you mention are all features of the Orban regime in Hungary, classed as illiberal democracy. Essentially control of the press, making it hard for opposition parties, gerrymandering etc. Illiberal democracy - Wikipedia share.google/gjSBxXF2EKZ2...

There is a tongue-in-cheek unit of volume called the Hubble-barn, equal to the volume of a cylinder with cross-sectional area of one barn (100 fm^2 - about the size of a uranium nucleus) and height of one Hubble length (14.4 billion light years). It works out to three and a half gallons.

On the slow boat down the Mekong river in Laos chatting with a Pole who had a racist streak. London was the example I used to say he was wrong but gently. A city of 150 nations and more languages. But it works, groups may not love each other but they get by share space and day to day it works.

Also lowering interest rates at full employment will typically increase inflation as too much money chases too few goods. Couple that with a tax cut plus tariff inflation and if you're unlucky a 70s style wage price spiral could be yours.
Gareth Dee (@garethapdafydd.bsky.social) reply parent
Murder drives ratings not so much accidents. I guarantee that if he'd killed those people with a sword it would have got as many headlines. But guns help you kill people, there's a reason why armies don't use swords any more.

Gareth Dee (@garethapdafydd.bsky.social) reply parent
If they did it with typists they can do it with gun manufacturers. Some will still work for the military market some will just have to pull themselves up by the bootstraps and find another job.
Gareth Dee (@garethapdafydd.bsky.social) reply parent
You mean like gun manufacturers do with not allowing the CDC to research gun deaths?
Gareth Dee (@garethapdafydd.bsky.social) reply parent
Nah, the person a gun is most likely to kill its owner, accident or suicide. Unless you're part of a well regulated militia doing a lot of training you're probably not going to be much use surprised in a fire fight. Not giving loads of people guns means fewer crazy people get them too.
Gareth Dee (@garethapdafydd.bsky.social) reply parent
share.google/wiZutDsIGJwg... Interesting no indication of the 250 figure but it appears most chainsaw deaths are caused by kickback rather than cutting yourself.

Absolutely can see the case for farmers to own varmint rifles. Less so can I see a purpose for open or concealed carry in any urban or suburban setting.
Gareth Dee (@garethapdafydd.bsky.social) reply parent
You don't think in that situation the vast majority of people would call a tree surgeon?
Gareth Dee (@garethapdafydd.bsky.social) reply parent
I guess it depends how you define chainsaw accident. If you include being hit by a branch/tree as a result of using one than I can see how you might get to 250
Gareth Dee (@garethapdafydd.bsky.social) reply parent
But they may say not allow the sale of particularly long chainsaws or chainsaws with overly large fuel tanks or other safety features that would make them less easy to kill multiple people with and no one would bat an eye at sensible chainsaw regulation or ownership registration/compulsory training.
