it's pretty frustrating how republicans can just spew endless lies about city life with zero repercussions but the moment a dem disparages a pickup truck it's open season
it's pretty frustrating how republicans can just spew endless lies about city life with zero repercussions but the moment a dem disparages a pickup truck it's open season
That Cybertruck thing really is a lice of shit.
Well looks like it's time to get in the mud with the thugs!!
Urban and suburban folk are expected to “understand the plight of rural folk” And rural folk are never expected to do the same. I live rural.
Or when a GOPer candidate pretends to drive an old pickup truck to run for office when in reality he's a rich elite PoS. Luckily we got rid of his ass quick because we don't make the same mistake twice in my state. #scottbrown
That's because Republicans own the propaganda machine 🤷
What lies should we be spreading about them? I heard every town has a bunch of guys who fuck cows and everybody knows who it is but they don't stop them bc if they did it would be a big story and then nobody would buy the cow milk
Release the cowfucker files
Lies? www.kgw.com/article/news...
It's because legacy media, which we still broadly look to as "refs" for everything, is owned by billionaires and edited by their stooges, and those people favor Republicans and their policies. Including Trump.
Trump: Democrat run cities are an apocalyptic hellscape of nothing but criminals. I am sending in the military to crack some heads! Media: I sleep. 😴 Democrats: “Flyover country” Media: REAL SHIT! 🤬 We will not rest until these divisive Dems pay!!!!
It's all rigged.
The grievance party is very good at grievance.
At this point it's part of the psychological makeup of this country. And that covers a lot of parameters. You're gonna need professional insight to the nature of the problem and the underlying reasons. On the surface, it's plain to see that one party is more aggressive than the other.
This is 100% fact.
They're just mad that you know about the truck's parents being siblings.
Yeah, well, with 47 able to fire someone b/c he didn't like the true statistics, I'm sure we'll no longer see real ones & the "numbers" will magically match his spew-of-the-moment. What he does = legal What he says = truth I think his demented brain BELIEVES this & we apparently can't stop him.
We need to do better, DEMS, at owning the narrative. Whatever that Narrative needs to be!
never a bad time to remind conservative rurals that they got exactly what they voted for
I blame the press who are mostly NY:DC. If any of them lived in a red state they would understand shitty red state governance. The minute their personal trash is not picked up on time in NY its treated like a crisis.
It would be wonderful if Dem politicians actually fought back and defended blue cities and states and asked why Republicans hate America.
It'd also be nice if they fought back against the lies about immigrants and crime. Trump did that constantly during his campaign and Kamala was like "I can be tough on the boarder too!"
100%
It is so fucking frustrating that we aren't winning the narratives on what is happening in American Cities right now. Crime and Violent Crime have significanly DECREASED and the numbers are historic! We need to run on this not play defense! #safecities #decreasingcrime #tellthetruth
It is imperative that we tout this growth now so we don't take steps backwards. I encourage you to go out and look at the midyear data for the major cities that they try to scare you about and amazing things are taking place there!
We do seem to provide a lot of deference to those whose ideology is a straight line back to those who used to burn witches.
Was in an airport bar recently and the woman next to me was from rural Wisconsin. She asked where I was from and I told her Seattle. She made a face of disgust and said “Ohh…sorry.” Imagine if I had the same reaction to where she was from? I’m tired of truth and respect being a one way street.
Fucking cheesehead.
We met an American tourist on a tram in Melbourne earlier this year. The conversation turned (as it inevitably must) to politics, and she was quick to volunteer that she had voted for Harris/Walz. We could only respond, "Thank you for your service."
It should be open season on pickups and their drivers. I’ll exempt the drivers that need them for work. Too many just retardedly drive them as a status symbol.
They’ve never made a big enough deal out of rural crime rates and they really ought to
It’s a real problem and demands real accountability and yet also serves to push back against the urban hellhole narrative
im tired of the acreage lords coming into the city and stealing hard workers’ stuff
not even joking, couldn’t have an onsite tool trailer because some jackass with four acres forty minutes out of town would would pull up and steal it while we were doing a store run
Like half of this phenomenon is purely because when a Dem accidentally says something cool they backtrack instead of doubling down
other half is the press, which prefers dems in disarray content to virtually anything else
amending the ‘you’re right we we suck’ rule didn’t pass muster with the parliamentarian
I know right?
absolutely
See, e.g., Obama’s “guns and religion” (obviously, inarguably true), Hillary’s “basket of deplorables” (ditto), Biden’s (debatable) “garbage.”
walz calling the gop “weirdos” was another one that did well and he got a talking to from the consultants and we never heard it again
James Bennett has a wonderful thread refuting this myth: bsky.app/profile/uber...
It was one consultant and they said Lol No Thanks to him. This myth will never die, it seems.
Then why did they stop saying it?
They didn't bsky.app/profile/mist...
Ok sure bud one time, one screenshot, that definitely absolutely beyond a shadow of a doubt proves that you’re right! We all know the “weird” thing is just the epitome of them doing what the establishment says and losing because of it.
Because it’s in the same vein as them bringing on Liz Cheney and trying to appeal to this fabled “swing voter” instead of fucking making the case to actual democrats. Same mistakes again and again and I find it concerning the way you feel the need to defend a failed establishment.
No we don't know that because it didn't happen. You said they stopped saying it, and I provided evidence to the contrary. Until you can offer a link that has evidence that proved that he was "muzzled", this conversation is over. Take the L.
Thanks for being a shining example of why democrats lose so fucking always
Yeah, I literally worked on the campaign and we were giving out "Don't Be Weird: Vote Dem" stickers until we ran out in late October. I feel crazy hearing these takes.
The dismissal of eyewitness accounts in order to feed this "stabbed-in-the-back" myth is concerning.
I remember this article—it was very early in the campaign and it’s clearly not the whole story because shortly thereafter Walz stopped using the line and we never heard it again.
i remember hearing it for about a week and then never again
bsky.app/profile/uber...
Screenshot if you don't want to go to X, Walz said it two days before the election, November 3rd
Ok? I’m sure he used the word “weird” at least a few times in 100 days but the point is it started as the main message of the campaign and quickly faded away.
"shortly thereafter Walz stopped using the line and we never heard it again" - you, like 20 mins ago
my recollection is that they stopped using it for a while but brought it back closer to the election once it was clear that was a mistake.
Not picking nits for the sake of it as you’ve clearly done the reading (complimentary) - but - this strikes me as quite a lot different than the way he was using “weird” early in the campaign.
He's calling Trump weird. That's what the people wanted and that's what they got. This myth needs to die.
Thank you for receipts. He KEPT saying it!!!!!
The denials are hilarious. For some reason, nefarious or not, people have needed this to be true but it just isn't
It’s wild to me how people will post so much about election campaigns without ever knowing what candidates actually said or did
Because it fits the narrative. And you can point to that instead of saying idiot GOP voters have agency too, no matter what Walz said or didn’t say
He kept saying it. The media stopped covering it.
i’m learning now that that is the case but “i’m really fun at parties” magician has been a pedantic ass about it. this is why there’s a leftist/liberal split. he was all like “waaah. don’t deny lived experience.” fine, don’t deny a lot of other people’s then.
That’s not a political difference. That’s a personality conflict.
i guess we’re going to disagree too. that guy is getting ratioed. a lot of people agree that the “weird” thing was good and for our lived experience we only saw it for a bit. if the party has shit messaging it’s not the left’s fault. the centrist/libs were more with liz cheney than the left.
I think the complicit media gets left off the hook way too often. I’m a leftist. I also think putting all the blame on Walz and Harris is ridiculous.
More recent example:
see also Kamala's "I'm speaking, excuse me, I'm speaking."
the slay queen moment of her political career which cost you dipshits everything loolololol
it's not me (or leftists) paying the price but good job ig www.reuters.com/world/middle...
When did she backtrack on that
www.c-span.org/video/?c5127...
that wasn't the backtrack, that's what she backtracked from of course. critical strategic error.
Okay, but how about you answer the question she asked.
here's the backtrack: www.theguardian.com/us-news/vide...
🤷🏻♀️ I thought she did a great job with the absurdly short time she was given, that she stopped some of the bleeding and that Biden would’ve lost all 50 states, and I really like her
yep she showed a lot of strength with "I'm speaking" and should have kept that energy.
Bill Clinton's "God, guns, and gays"
"basket of deplorables" wasn't even bad in-context. She was specifically talking about the racists and bigots etc. of the Republican party from what I remember
Gosh, I wonder why they backtrack? Its the same reasons Al Franken resigned and multiple Republicans are credibly accused of rape, child sex abuse material and more, and don't resign.
Chuy garcia should have never apologized
What about teeth or brains, do they count? Cuz they usually don’t have any
They love big ol Dickup Trucks to overcompensate for their erectile dysfunction no Cialis can rectify.
As a rural progressive, i see lump sum rhetoric is counterproductive. This is a white thing, not a rural thing.
It’s crazy he sure knows how to activate the national guard for theatrics but not during an insurrection where police are getting beaten
Well yeah, he did start the insurrection. He was really hoping that'd work.
going all the way back to that racist fuck Jefferson
t-paine should have shot t-jeff at the first convention
Dems take the bait every time
The media frenzy occurs because ppl try to explain, walk it back, clarify, apologize, etc. Just don’t apologize! Rfk calls the whole nation fat and lazy all the time and ppl eat that shit up.
Most pickups I see these days are quad cabs with a 4 foot box and heated seats and a moon roof and start at $60K. As blue collar as it gets.
And a sparkling clean truck bed.
The fucking electoral college.
This is the result of a “free press” owned by a billionaire ruling class. Media is propaganda.
Which is crazy, because pickup trucks are stupid. There's only three reasons you buy a pickup: 1. You're a AAA tower. 2. You're actively transporting lumber. 3. The country music industry told you to, you sheep.
I’m sorry you don’t have enough space to have a garden but there’s a lot more reasons than that lmao
It's obnoxious as fuck when I go to visit relatives in their podunks towns. They immediately go to how terrible Minneapolis is. If I bring up how their town is losing jobs, or the restaurants all suck, or the youth pastor is banging kids, its out of bounds.
I only disparage pickups with clean tires and no mud on the undercarriage.
Every Buddy with a big flag, a camouflage hat, a flag t shirt, and other garments of astroturf patriotism should be greeted with, "so are we fighting this facism or what?", "I'll see you on the front lines of the fight against facism", "can you believe the military is being used against Americans?"
Mainstream media also reinforces the idea that rural Americans are “real” Americans, but somehow city dwellers are not.
They have no idea how hard "city dwellers" have to work to barely afford a little space that costs way too fucking much. But no, only the rural folk are hard workers. Okay, cool...
even though oddly they all live in cities. fox news is IN nyc and all of those people working at fox live there!
So true.
This seems to be a fairly common thing in most of the « western » world. It fucking sucks.
and yet thats also the population most impacted by these government cuts its vile
"If democratic leaders said “We can all agree Mississippi is a shithole” we would never hear the end of it. Putting the merits aside, it’s wild how the media treats GOP hatred of the majority of the country as normal." bsky.app/profile/jane...
Republicans try to delegitimize anyone who doesn’t vote for them, particularly Black and brown people. And when Rs say working class- they mean white men working in traditionally male jobs. They certainly don’t mean the real working class.
1000% this.
I would posit that most of the federal income is from cities, not rural.
And this matters why?
This is true based on population density alone. About 80% of Americans live in urban areas. It's wild that the majority of Americans are treated as illegitimate.
Totally agree.
Wisconsin's rural/suburban communities love crapping on Milwaukee, but Milwaukee generates more revenue for the state and they benefit from it
Same here in rural Pennsylvania towards Philadelphia. 43% of the state live in this one area! It's important!
I've lived in a small city (York), Pittsburgh and now live in a tiny town a half hour west of State College, and I gotta say as someone who has lived in both rural and urban environments: Rural people tend to be way more elitist than urban people about where they live. And get a pass for it.
See: Washington County’s chief exec running his mouth during the shared revenue raise “debate” after the “Cracker Barrel” comment. That’s a suburbanite governing an exurb dependent on Milwaukee for its existence as a exurb bedroom community hub.
Also, rurals are also not 90/10 GOP but we still use this red rural, blue city BS. My tiny rural township in a very “Joe McCarthy wasn’t wrong” county goes 60/40 most elections.
The “evil cities” trope isn’t a pure rural originating movement. It’s been fed and fostered by the con class for 50+ years to denigrate the possibility of government working so it can be degraded and replaced with private services their backers own.
conservative talk radio has done immeasurable damage in WI over the years
Be a they are white. That’s it
800,000 journalists going on safaris to Ohio diners to talk to Trump-supporting white retirees to figure out why they love Trump and what it says about Real America
This ^^
Hell my main issue with pickup trucks is people in the city and suburbs buying them as a status symbol when they don't actually need them for anything except maybe moving furniture every once in a blue moon
We need to fight back. Dipshit accountants in extended cab pickup trucks should be disparaged. If they didn't hate their own children, they'd get a minivan!
The worst thing any Democrat has ever said about red areas is Obama's cling to guns and religion (which is nothing). Elected Republicans call every large city in the country a vermin-infested hellhole literally every....single....day. The asymmetrical standards are astounding.
The difference is the GOP has a propaganda wing to amplify and weaponize their beliefs.
Yep.
And most of them live in urban areas. They know they’re selling bs.
For sure the know they are lying. It's a requirement to be where they are
And he was talking about trying to understand them. Hillary's Basket of Deplorables statement was a "not all MAGAs" type of comment. There is none of that nuance coming from the right about us.
Country music, Hallmark movies, and so many other points of pop culture paint rural/small town life as the ideal, the dream the more "real" and everyone suffers through city life, and finds meaning and paradise in Podunk. Because the people are more "real" and not evil, like in the city.
I was cursing earlier that Dems need to just unload on the high crime, low educated South. Louisiana, Oklahoma, Missouri aren’t turning blue anytime soon, so just let them know the facts of what a failing welfare state actually looks like. Put every violent crime in Memphis on the front page.
100%. It's time to make it socially painful to suggest that you can't be a real American because you happen to live in an urban area, which is where most Americans live and produce most of what America produces.
HOW THE MEDIA LETS THEM ? If you all didn't say so, we wouldn't know. We aren't watching CSPAN during work hours
It's not just Republicans who disparage cities. Democrats do. Even Democrsts in our own cities. They ignore us and pretend we don't exist, like we're all "elites" here. It's crazy and I don't understand it
Pickup trucks have their uses. Though I’d be more likely to buy a more utilitarian retro 1980-era pickup. Where I go astray is calling guns pacifiers for the paranoid and the scaredy pants.
how/why is it that we seem to accept the "Right" view as right, automatically, as if their propaganda has some kind of embedded spell?
The U.S. Media industry has a Conservative bias
Ballpark figure: how many of the pickup trucks driven in cities, suburbs, or exurbs are actually used to haul things? 20%? You buy what car you want, but you don't get to get people not to presume why you bought it.
Rocking back and fourth, singing a slow, tearful version of “like a rock…”.
This a thousand times. The media (especially FOX) has convinced so many rural people that people in cities "look down on them" (they don't) that in fact the opposite is true. Criticize major cities (where most Americans actually live)? No problem. Criticize any small town or rural area? Big problem.
I’d never call myself a dem, but motherfuck a pickup truck.
President AOC should ban all pickup trucks.
Why after all the misery and disruption from big tech is there not a major boycott? Boycott Pay Pal ( and all of Peter Theils interest), Facebook, Amazon , Tesla etc. Come on peasants ! It’s our last card we hold!!!!
You so right. The right is constantly making commercial appeals to the base, some grotesquely exploitive, some success. More businesses should straight up work for and earn lefty customers and loyalty. Penzy’s a model?
If America is to have a renaissance, it will run through open adoration for our cities.
It’s because @democrats.org refuse to own the conversation. They instead spend every second responding and legitimizing BS.
In part because Dems spew endless lies about city life as well. In Seattle the conservative Dems lied about public safety to win the last elections because they’re beholden to the corrupt police union
We’re seeing it with Cuomo and Adams in NYC
1000%. Cuomo and Adams must be defeated. We need to break the hold that the fascist leaning Democrats have on the party
But they are both Republicans.
You’re not wrong, but there’s too many Democrats that are basically Republicans
Conservatives in Blue states have mostly figured out that it’s nearly impossible for “Republicans” to win here. So they call themselves “Democrats,” but most of their actual policies are fully GOP.
The harsh truth is that the majority of the Republican base is perfectly fine with cheating and stealing and being a piece of shit as long as it’s their people doing it.
Republicans pursue their economic and social policy goals with no regard for democratic representation, fairness, or decency. Democrats, on the other hand, have democracy and fairness as policy goals. This puts them at a natural disadvantage from the start. I don't know what the solution is.
Next time in power, they should just ram shit through.
This is just another way to divide people, like generation, race, gender, etc. There are assholes everywhere, in every group but the real important thing to remember is there are extremely privileged people using this stuff to distract people from their greed.
It was a major scandal in the last election that Tim Walz said he visited China in 1989 when he actually visited in 1990.
Also, they come into the cities to see an IMAX movie, live theater, concerts, sports and great restaurants. They never seem to have any issue doing those things with all the horrible crime. Want to mix them, see the crimes going on at The Kennedy Center.
A huge portion of the illegal guns seized in my city were stolen from the parked cars of suburbanites who leave their unsecured firearms (and probably visible valuables) in their cars when they come brave the active war zone to see a concert or eat at a decent restaurant.
We call those loot boxes.
That’s cos Republicans are weird, especially the shouty elected ones. Let’s get back on message.
Simply by numbers, the normal (and by conservative logic "true") American life would be that of the city. Our economic, artistic, & cultural cores are urban, and our Revolution started in Boston. I think urban liberals & leftists have a much better claim to "true" Americana than rural conservatives
"hate is supposed to flow in one direction (rural get to hate urban, Republicans get to hate Democrats)" "If democratic leaders said “Mississippi is a shithole” we would never hear the end of it wild how the media treats GOP hatred of the majority of the country as normal bsky.app/profile/jane...
Think of it this way, in 16 when Trump would say something racist, the press would pounce and treat it like a scandal. He'd continue to do it though and act like he was the brave truth telling victim. And in the end it helped him win. No reason a Dem can't do the same but with demonizing red states
Democratic leaders should absolutely say "Mississippi is a shit hole" And then when they're hammered about it they can stick to their guns and explain why Mississippi is a shit hole. And they can show how much of regular American's money Mississippi freeloads off of. It's a win.
I’m not always a fan of Gavin Newsom but anytime a red state Republican spews some nonsense online about California he’s been responding and points out the figures that show crime and everything else is much worse in that person’s state. Definitely would like to see more of that from Dems.
You lost me at Dems “sticking to their guns”
It's like after Parkland and Trump said he's have run into the building. Run?
figurative, silllllllllllllllly
Even figuratively asking a dem to have a spine is never gonna happen.
Parties change. Happens all the time. Reps have radically changed twice in my lifetime. Dems are overdue.
American politics, both left and right, tends to be reactionary to the moment.
A product of a short human life span.
Dems play in the parameters Republicans set for them & don’t seem to care to move beyond them. They just say bullshit like “we need Joe Rogan of the left” or “we will actually build the wall too” or “we shouldn’t support transgenders beyond the bare minimum we already do”. So literally reactionary
Although the severe right, not interested in equilibriums, seems to have been planning for decades for a time to swoop in and devour like vultures. Donald Trump was brought down the chimney by the severe right Santa Claus after entities like Rush and Fox set out cookies and milk for said Mr. Claus.
And they're not there to do any actual favors to the knuckle dragger set, but to use them perhaps only once as an airplane key for the wildest ride they can devise.
New souls are needed. It is a matter of having been acculturated to horse trading with a GOP that is now dealing in rabid zebras.
"Texas has the fewest personal freedoms" The right wing Cato Institute ranks Texas 49th in personal freedom www.freedominthe50states.org/personal/texas "Here are the 10 states with the poorest quality of life" thehill.com/vertical_pos... "Texas Now Has Massive Departures As Residents Leave State"
Native Texan here. I'd leave the state in a heartbeat if it weren't for family obligations. It's really tough to make friends around here. Maybe in certain cities like Austin or El Paso, but most of this state is garbage.
Also Texas has low taxes (if you're rich).
Check what the Cato Institute has to say about tax rates between CA and TX. Most folks don’t expect the answer.
I fucking hate pickup trucks driven by assholes.
Lincoln went too easy on the south and we're all paying for it to this day.
We need to talk about CHILDREN OF THE CORN more.
somehow even when they're complaining about an F650 that's never going to see an unpaved road
Entirely so, but also intentional, as outlined in the project 2025 handbook. This was all planed by people who know that control over public information is essential to a coup...
America is where Americans are. The rurals are the deviants.
"They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations." Obama in '08. They flipped out, but give him credit. He nailed it. Reads like prophesy. good times
I will donate to the first Democratic candidate who uses the term "hick" pejoratively and I'm not even kidding.
Hi, I’m a socialist who grew up in WNC! Please stop stereotyping!
respectfully, this is not a winning strategy, and also democrats do not need or deserve your money. if we want to get out of this mess then we have to build a broad working-class coalition and that includes rural working class people.
They don't drive orphan grinder luxury trucks
Please refrain from messing with our petty grievances. It's one of the very few pleasures we have left.
sounds like a good reason to join a politically active organization where your grievances can be transformed into action. i wish you well on that journey, my friend
The rural working class people who hate conservatives agree that their neighbors are brainwashed hicks!!! It's OK to call it like it is!!!
^ This. Liberals in rural areas know they don't speak for those people, and they don't influence that culture.
Liberal from a small town. *You're all right.* Much of it is true, and yes, they are petty grievances, but what we NEED is to "win friends and influence people," so you have to stuff that pettiness for awhile and do the work. Banging your head on concrete hurts, I know, but we have to try.
We won't win by getting Trump voters as that won't happen. I still don't get why a section of Democrats think Republicans help win elections for them. Democrats win when their base is motivated and courting fascists won't do that.
That may be, but there's a section of Democrats who think turning people away from fascism and pedophiles (as opposed to republicanism) is important. Have you ever been a Republican?
Liberalism can never be an alternative to fascism because fascism is a response to the inevitable collapse of liberal democracies. The only hope is socialism—the establishment of working-class democratic control of the government and economy and the redistribution of the means of production.
The graveyards are overflowing with all the failures of socialism, and EVERY SINGLE ONE has a toe tag, added by the next guy, that says, "Failed to use the RIGHT KIND of Socialism." So I'm skeptical of any one solution.
They voted for an insurrectionist and you want to court them. That's pathetic.
🤷♀️❤️
...isn't that like asking, "Have you ever been a leper?" Anyway, I'm of the mind that those people can turn away from fascism before the backlash hits, or they can be turned into agricultural and industrial products after, when we're no longer interested in mercy or reconciliation. Their choice.
They are Built Ford Tough but have very delicate fee fees
fuck those oversized tonka truck manchildren
a guy wrote a mid book about how rural life and became VP
They are the softest, weakest people imaginable.
it's pretty frustrating how republicans can just MADLIB with zero repercussions but the moment a dem MADLIB it's open season True
I think Dems simply care too much about the criticism. They should just fight back harder.
& they're not even trying. they want to play by the rules but the repubs threw those rules out years ago. what are we even doing here?
May i offer a possible path forward? Yes, it reduces a complex problem down to a construct not befitting its depth- but that is the whole idea. Please see my pinned thread: bsky.app/profile/jeff...
Instead of backtracking on “basket of deplorables,” Hillary and her proxies should have gone on news shows with pictures of those chuds at Trump rallies wearing “fuck your feelings” t-shirts. “They’re scum and they’re proud of it. Why are saying Clinton was wrong to point it out?”
When it's disparagement of the cities, it's "everybody knows this, it's common knowledge." When it's disparagement of the rural life, it's "how can you be so ignorant?"
They love to say that out-of-touch people in cities don't know what the rural areas are like -- forgetting just how many ppl in urban areas CAME FROM those rural areas. In contrast, you never see Manhattanites relocating to rural Arkansas unless it's the basis for a "fish out of water" comedy.
Why would you disparage a pickup truck? Not tired of losing elections? The thing is, farmers and labor go together like peas and carrots. The problem is the Democratic Party is a rich person's elitist snobbery party and they can't figure that out because they don't ever leave the Acela corridor.
The solution is to throw all the elitist rich person snobs out of the party. And especially to throw anyone connected with Clinton out. Most especially that. All of them. Clinton's an Epstein guy and everyone who ever worked for him is sus as a result. Until independently proven not bad.
Dems gotta quit being Mr Nice Guy and start to be ugly back to these insane Trumpers
Personally I make fun of pickup trucks any chance I get… to people who drive them. They are the dumbest thing to own for 95% of the people that own them. Super expensive, Too big and yet somehow too small all at once, super expensive to maintain, drive like shit, suck at gas mileage.
And when they don’t suck gas they still suck at mileage
Republicans show a bias towards action. Delivering results to (some) supporters. Dem leaders appear to play it safe & miss 100% of the shots they don’t take or pretend to take. This leaves them with zero points and fewer supporters. Astoundingly stupid. May not be reality…but…that’s the perception
What if it's a Honda Ridgeline? I mean...
first good giggle of the day, and it's 1pm
[Minneapolis has entered the chat]
I don’t really think it’s limited to US but in general conservatives and everything right from them up to right extreme. They lie, right media and social media boost their lies without context and their voters are isolated from reality and think it’s great.
You wanna get roasted, go somewhere that "Truck Guys" congregate and point out they're paying 90k for a truck that should cost a third that and then call it the "Redneck Aesthetic Tax" and make sure you've got your asbestos undies on because you're gonna catch some heat. Speaking from experience.
THIS! Sadly, all too often, it’s Dems and MSM who are quick to admonish anyone critical of Trumpers.
They don't have much else besides the truck, have you heard pop country these days 😂
Part of being superior is your problems are everybody’s problems while others’ issues are their own fault that you can neglect or cast off as needed
It’s because dems don’t have an equivalent propaganda network.
and they should've stuck with the "they're weird" mantra. At least then they could've added to it over time
Sounds like someone needs to visit a small town around Christmas, fall in love with the church handyman, and give up any ambitions you may have to stay there and take over the quirky old woman's bakery.
There are a lot of foreign bots on social media
Frankly, I can’t remember the last time a republican told the truth.
Man, if they could hear me inside my car on the way home from work they'd assassinate my ass the way I talk mad shit about those pickup truck douchebags. If they spent as much time learning to change lanes properly as they do picking out monster truck tires many of us would be much safer.
Also release the Epstein files
Wonder why Trump specifically called out Washington, Baltimore and Oakland? Oh silly me they all have an O in them.
Part of this is because everyone kind of knows that cities can take it. It is also the infantilizing of rural America. As if people there don't know they are being lied to, and being bamboozled. It is not new. It has existed since cities became the commercial center. It is kind of a fact of life now
Corporate media is complicit in fascism and does their part to uphold this double standard
Dems too afraid to talk about a rise in cattle rustling.
Hard core pickup people make fun of anyone who buys a Tundra, even though it’s a fine truck. Peer pressure among the right is a powerful thing.
Smart, curious young people flee small towns for cities as soon as they can in droves. The reverse, not so much. Like rarely.
Its fucking crazy.
Seems like many of the currently popular true crime series take place outside of the big cities.
...bc they are better at this game than we are. At least for now.
"Better at the game".. they just lie. We all knew that kid who was new and he just told these amazing stories all the time. Then, one day, eventually, someone knows enough to call bullshit about that new lie that day. And then it's over. We're just waiting on maga to catch up and theyre slow.
Domestic trucks are all terrible, and it’s specifically because there’s a special tax on imported trucks. That’s why we have Honda Civics but Toyota pickups are disappearing from the road
Problem is Dems are too politically correct to tell the harsh truths about Backwater America. Everything ends up getting filtered through socioeconomic empathies but let’s be real they could just move to an urban region and get a job instead of being aimless methheads
oh no fomootd is real (fear of missing out on truck discourse)
I like when they say people who live in cities live in a bubble. Like when I lived in SF and took public transit to work I objectively encountered far more people with far more diverse backgrounds every single day than your average rural town will see in your entire life.
"Heartland", "Real America", etc. The fact that the population of America mostly lives in, and grew up in metropolitan areas, but still sees America as a land of small towns, and sees cities as somehow not Real America is endlessly frustrating.
Welcome to America. MegaCorp in charge, eh?
It’s almost as if ALL Republicans are narcissistic and bipolar.
What’s your best guess for why that happens?
I’ve been tired of this for 50 years.
look here city girl i need me a pickup that don't take no three flushes per load, if you know what i mean
The funniest part of this cosplay "working class guy" stuff is Republicans acting like any kind of coffee but plain black in a Styrofoam cup is somehow gay As if JD Vance doesn't have an incredibly specific Starbucks order that takes 15 minutes
Every order "the zoo's in town, am I right?"
Or holidays in the UK countryside where the police go do to door asking for access to social media of his temporary neighbors to turn over to the US government.
Did that happen???
Buried in The Observer yesterday was this: UK police knocking on doors demanding details of social media accounts of people, to pass to a foreign government, simply because they happen to live near where a US politician wanted to have a holiday observer.co.uk/news/nationa...
JFC WTAF
Exactly
Succession did it best when the ATN lady was talking about “latte sipping douchebags” and then it cuts to Tom sipping on a latte.
Multimillionaire Yankee blueblood George W Bush put on a $1000 pair of designer cowboy boots and they all decided he was a good ‘ol boy. “Authenticity”!
Frankly we should take bigger swings, insult everything that represents them. Bullies are weak and eventually their anger will make them do something so stupid it can’t be ignored. Where is our media outlet that can do this?! South Park, Colbert, and Stewart aren’t enough.
YES! FIGHT FOR REAL
I mean it’s the minimum. We are just trying to keep up, let alone surpass. And right now we are bringing a feather to a missile war.
full stop after “lies” works there, too
I lived most of my life in northern Kern County, CA. The difference between how people in conservative Bakersfield talk about Los Angeles versus outrage from those same people when Gavin Newsom talks about the Kern murder rate, the highest in the state, is hilarious. They get so offended.
Like I think they're right that Newsom dislikes Kern County but he's not wrong about the violence!
*ute
nah we aint call them that in the US
Or a white girl from Idaho
They sure love to visit those big cities though
& didn't ever get culturally repudiated
Infuriating. The President calls us “scum” every week. How is this OK?!!!
I just say they have small dicks
Our corporate media has been against Dems since 1980.
it shows an obvious disrespect for the foundation our country is built on, that's why. those 120 month, 15% loans for $130k F350s that are deeply underwater and 60 days behind are the fuel on which america's powerful economic engine runs.
I just watched the hour-long "Try That in a Small Town" episode of Pat Finnerty's YouTube series "What Makes This Song Stink," and it was glorious. Showed why the song stinks *AND* refuted all the "small towns are Real America" bullshit. www.youtube.com/watch?v=jeJX...
I heard Ford is loving the new tariffs… #LoseSoHardYouCallitWinning
I'm 51yo and my folks were born and raised in DC, and I've been hearing *my whole life* how awful DC is. It's canon among conservatives. They moved west from DC in 1968 and have rarely been back except to visit family who are now gone. I love DC, great town. Want to vacay there sometime again.
I’m third generation born in DC. My grandfather and mother were born/raised in Georgetown. But yup, by the ‘60s, we all lived in Maryland. I left the area at age 9, but love to visit it. It’s a great city.
Taps the ol' "Only Democrats have agency" sign. Fucking depressing.
"The cities are Dem shitholes." Have you been to rural America? BTW, mainly Republicans run these places:
I've been through my share of "the mill closed 20 years ago" towns in rural America. It ain't pretty. There's a gas station, a gun store, a pawn shop, a payday loan place, a place to donate plasma, and maybe a Walmart.
Their egos need to hear that cities are dangerous shit holes because they know they live in decaying ruins of towns
