No, because birthright citizenship, I think, is safe with even this Supreme Court, but the Secretary of State has enormous leeway in deciding the number of foreign visas that are issued. That's not even in question; it's a fact. And, well, he does serve at the pleasure of the President.

The dependency is real; universities have become so reliant on foreign students that if those students aren't able to attend, their budgets go into the red quickly.

Even institutions like Harvard would have to drastically tap into their endowment, and for private and state schools with smaller endowments, it would mean drastic cuts across the board.

That wasn’t always the case because we did not always have the massive research ecosystem that the NIH and NSF created. The “federal research funding addiction” is the reason childhood leukemia survival rates are 85% now instead of 45% as they were in the 70s.

And I'm all for I don't support any cuts to federal research spending I'm just stating that it made research universities vulnerable to pressure from the federal government.
