I dunno man it seems like for all its problems that was better policy than the one we have now where we’re talking about which hospitals to close and which firefighters we’re going to deport today. They must have been doing something right.

ACA was half assed “just give them something so they shut up” policy. Better than what it was but it’s not what we deserve. don’t give a single fuck about WTO and IRA I guess is pretty cool but lot of half ass policy
As someone who would also love for them to have gone further, “cool but not far enough” is objectively way better than the current situation of “actively making everything worse”
Harm reduction voting doesn’t help anything but ratchet the country further to the right
Literally the entire point of government should be harm reduction, getting the things we want here is also harm reduction, just moreso. If we're not trying to reduce harm what are we doing here exactly
Allowing the country to go further and further right..
By this logic getting socialized medicine gets us even further right because that would be more harm reduction than the ACA and harm reduction is bad.
Lmao okay dude
Why is that different it’s literally harm reduction and you said that makes us further right.
Lmao I don’t think universal health care is harm reduction, I think it’s actual good policy. I don’t agree that it’s the same as harm reduction, harm reduction policy’s don’t solve problems, they are just bandaids.
What threshold makes something stop being harm reduction as opposed to “good policy” because it seems like the only difference is “we reduced the harm even less” and it’s good now “It’s even easier to get medicine” > “it’s easier to get medicine” but how is this not more of the thing you don’t like
What about the last thirty years? Off the top of my head, -ACA -IRA -WTO and in contrast to that -NIMBYism -Death of USAID -Withdrawn green energy projects -Illegal trade wars by Presidential fiat -DOGE It's not all roses, but I don't see how one can argue we were worse off for the technocrats.
The strain of libertarianism in the modern left runs deep, and I really fear it will poison everything.
