I'm an author, retired professor and have written about shootings. I worked on the analysis of the FBI shooting that took place in Miami in 1986 along with other cases. There isn't a definitive definition of what an assault rifle is. If you think it is so easy, why hasn't there been legislation yet?

It is not a trick question. Lawmakers cannot write a law banning assault rifles unless there is a specific description of what they are. Haven't you wondered why there isn't a law banning "assault rifles"?
There was an assault weapons ban in the 90s.

No, there isn't any NOW... and how can lawmakers write appropriate legislation in assault rifles/weapons if they cannot be accurately defined. A person can modify so many different weapons to be used in an assault... so, how can we legislate against them?
Renew the 1994 law.

It did nothing to stop mass shootings... or do you think that renewing that law will end them? The problem is much bigger than that poorly written law because so many weapons can be modified and people can easily get guns in the US.
