I don’t know if my account is being suppressed or if we are simply failing to support one another as a V community, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t increasingly tempted to go back to that hellsite as vegan reach appears to remain stronger there. Not sure what that says about the Bluesky platform
I've found that there is much less pro-animal abuse on BlueSky. But there is a lot more interaction with bots and grifters on Twitter which may make it seem like there is more "engagement" there. I think this is an illusion. There is more conflict and violence. I don't think this is worth much.
That’s undoubtedly part of it. I also think the Vs who stayed on (post bluesky exodus) started supporting one another’s content more consistently (notable uptick in reposts etc) so as to keep a V community there. I also think Elon loosened restrictions in an effort to keep users on his platform
You're right, definitely more bots and grifters on Twitter due to Egon's widening war on woke, hence much greater bile and replyguy wankishness. It's deeply wasteful of vegans' time and compassion to write responses to AI generated replies.
The reply guys lol True. But visibility/reposts seem to have spiked there re vegan content, which implies a more supportive community. We can’t encourage people to go vegan if our content is stuck in a vacuum. Just me rambling, it’s a slog either way
If our content is just responding to bots and replyguys, we're not changing minds and shaping conversations. I'm sure political content is also vibrant there due to similar bots and protagonists. We can slog productively or we can slog uselessly. Either way. Good wishes.
Again, reposts/visibility appears to have increased there, that’s nothing to do with bots and trolls, that’s vegans or progressive nonVegans supporting the content and creating further reach

I couldn’t in good conscience stay at Twitter after the Nazi salute, but I check my group DMs & repost Beneath The Wood Sanctuary content as the majority of their needed support is found there. I like Bluesky and want to focus on building vegan visibility here, but it can be admittedly… 1/

I think there needs to be more recruitment to Bluesky. I think only 35M users total. Compared to twitter I would think this # is very small. Even things like websites etc don’t offer to share posts to Bluesky. Things like that make a difference. Needs a lot more exposure.
I could not stand the pathology on twitter- I was there solely for veganism and on Vegan twitter chat all of it. Too many sickos there for me and felt I was wasting my time between them and the bots and algos. This was years ago before it was X, but seems same now.

Agreed. It feels like Bluesky is stalling out, and it doesn’t help when the predominant base seems to want an echo chamber, blocking at the mere thought of being challenged. I’m always shocked at the number of blocks my fairly benign posts get on a site that claims to be filled w progressives
Yeah that’s super frustrating- I think too extreme on either side is bad- I think being vegan is naturally progressive and anti-oppression. i have noticed hard core black and white, single-issue thinking in both extremes.
Murdering Animals and their young is extreme. Extreme stupidity is pandemic. Extreme apathy is pandemic. You can’t just decide to do nothing with these people. You have to try to crack their shells...
People won’t change unless they’re ready. If i see a person is curious about veganism and ask questions I will always engage.
That’s great and necessary, but it’s easy. Confrontation isn’t fun but in a lot of cases, it’s necessary. Either way, online reaches and teaches so many people - no matter the instance. My neighbors are barbecuing right now -

As a behavioral professional, I assess readiness for change. if a person has no interest, I put no effort. We can provide information & facts but we can’t make anyone change or care. This is for anything in life. There has to be some internal motivation on their part.They have to want to do the work

It breaks my heart every day that most people continue to willingly engage in killing animals and our planet. Big ag has done a great job brainwashing people. Including most of us -until we got it. Definitely a “red pill” experience.
Outreach remains difficult. On FB and X there are Echo chambers filled with trolls. Here there is no algorithm. We stumble onto each other by accident.
I think all These platforms have algos to varying degrees. Also, the lack of oversight on ai and bots etc is so damaging on the larger sites- and they want them- Elon Zuckerberg etc. Look at all the election and political Propaganda spewed out and people Believe it. It’s a weapon. 😞
It’s not hard to find ways to work around the algorithms. If you have a problem, just write me 👌

The trolls are around for a reason…..they give us an opportunity to post truths/info/recipes about Veganism that others reading along can learn from. 🌱
We need to utilize these opportunities. They reach so many more people than having a conversation in person in our daily lives.

Temped to post there at times too. There’s so much evidence of bot activity on Twitter; it’s hard to even tell what’s real and what’s not. There are bots on here too but at least they get snapped up by the spam labels or banned eventually.

I believe veganism should be the top priority on minds & hearts just for climate impacts if nothing else, but with so much else going on ... I wonder if your experience on X was better just bc of less distractions 'back then' & wouldn't be the same now anyway?
I wouldn’t say my experience there was better, just that there appears to be an uptick in vegan visibility which is frustrating considering this is supposed to be the more progressive site
I feel ya! It's never my intention to live the cozy life. That said I'm on threads now and there are so many vegans on there. Any meathead or troll post etc gets a ton of v4ta responses.
