My father was unable to speak near the end. I've been seeing so many parallels over the years what I recognized in my dad and what I see in Trump.
Earlier this year Musk was speaking at a cabinet meeting and every one was looking at him except Trump. Trump was looking down at his lap or the table. He was completely disengaged from what was happening around him. My dad acted the same way when he was close to the end of his life.
The difference between them, speaking or not, your dad was a wonderful person compared to this guy. I'm sorry for your loss.
My MIL was non-verbal for her last 3 years. Part of that was the drugs turning her into a zombie because she had reached the agitated and feisty stage.
Same. My Dad didn't speak much near the end. Like he couldn't understand how to. 😕
Can’t come soon enough if that’s the case.
My mom was completely uncommunicative. Couldn't talk at all
My Dad would just stare at us, with a look of incomprehension of anything we were saying.
So sorry
Thanks
Yep - aphasia eventually sets in & it becomes a struggle to find words. For some reason, nouns usually seem to be the first thing to go, so you see people using the wrong names for people or things. 1/
When I went through chemo I couldn't remember names, numbers or nouns.
Can confirm. It’s how things went with my dad as well. Trump fits the bill
I suspect that's why he says things like "in a certain period of time" - he can't remember the words for dates, days, or time frames. Same reason everything is in two weeks. It's the only thing that comes to mind. 2/end
My mom always reported her pain level at a 4 no matter what. But at least she was consistent so I could explain that to the docs so they could probe further than just the number.
He hasn't been able to stay on a specific train of thought for the longest time. He meanders about free associating as he goes which is why we all wonder WTH he's saying. He was like this 10 yrs ago but he's much worse now.
It's more noticeable now, plus he looks so ELDERLY and tired lately. Not that he ever looked good🤮, but that's more noticeable too.
First time was literally ever scared .. he knows he’s cooked with Epstein and project 2025 wants Vance
Thibgs are gonna start moving a lot faster now cause the end of the summer was supposed to be the dead line and people are starting to wake up and fight back now
Which is terrifying. 🫤
Yup very
I hope by the end of September things have flipped around. Everyone needs to sit up and pay attention.
It will be almost worth it to see maga see their guns they care more aboht than kids in schools hold up against tanks and tomahawks tho 😂😂😂
I just hope troops disobey ordered la if they’re told to go to states that governors don’t want them there because they take an oath to the constitution not the president .. that’s my small glimmer of hope ..
That, and they are going to be tired of getting deployed for 29 days at a time which denies them all benefits. It's disrespectful and abusive and believe me they're talking about it amongst themselves now.
Also Putin un and chi are meeting to discuss how to handle the United states .. and he thought all three were his besties .. so the break up could be hard on him ..
Yes, and people develop ways to hide the symptoms.
#TACO2Weak
I also think two weeks is what he says when he has no intention on doing anything ..
So interesting. You really wrapped it up.
I always thought the “two weeks” thing was because that’s how long the goldfish memory of MAGA (and the media for that matter) takes to forget he said it.
Two weeks is a political strategy. Within the course of 2 weeks they news cycle changes multiple times. They are just betting that we will have forgotten by then.
These symptoms can also be brought on by lack of sleep and exhaustion, can’t they. I’ve always thought that better described Trump until this weird silence.
Sadly, can confirm as well. My late mother couldn't speak/brain wasn't working enough so she could speak at the end. The brain just starts the final shutdown at that stage, I think.
Interesting. In her last years, my grandmother had only three nouns: “people,” “way”, and “thing.” “Way” was anything associated with movement, and “people” was anything associated with people, such as clothing or jobs.
I'm not buying it . I think it's all an act so he can go permanently golfing on our dime. I prefer he go golfing in maximum security . He can find his phone and rant and rage about bs at all ours of the day.
Hours not ours
He was seen on the golf course today. I really wish he would die but I just think speculating about it is worthless at this point.
C’mon. Let us play. It’s been a long time.
Me, too. My dad slipped very suddenly from moderate to full blown dementia. They can’t pump him full of uppers and Provigil anymore.
My mom was the same way, she stopped talking and then she she decided to go home...I was happy for her...she deserved better then the last 5 years of her life...dementia and Alzheimer's are horrible diseases.
Same. My Dad gave many speeches over his career, and some nights he would go from silent to giving a full speech with passion. 🥺
Yes. My father in law just passed away.about 2 - 3weeks before he could not talk or eat any more.
Thank you for the insight. I'm sorry for your loss.
Same. My dad had an unusual form of dementia in that he was aware of the loss, but he lost language, like nouns, first. But Trump's body posture is similar to others at the memory care place. The random hat is interesting. Suggests he was only concerned with having a hat and not making a point.
I think they are covering up something bad on his head. I haven't seen his awful tangle of ferret fur on his real head for ages.
I wondered the same.
It could be the lighting in the photo, but even the hair that’s exposed on the part of his head that we can see below the hat, looks different. Thinner and more gray.
Every family who has gone through the downward spiral of dementia with a family member knows it is going to get much, much worse from now on.
It’s unfortunate that his own family will not do anything to help because he is their meal ticket. I know Trump is a detestable monster, but I also believe he has been surrounded by sharks (Miller, RFK, etc) who know what is wrong with him and are taking advantage of it
Exactly. My heart goes out to those who have to deal with it. And if tRump indeed has dementia (as Reagan did) then those who are enabling this should be ostracized forever. It's abuse.
My mother tapered off on speaking. I don’t recall her saying anything the last 6 months.
I saw it with my mother and her sister, and their mom, my grandmother. And now I’m seeing it with my husband. There’s a lot of similarities.
I'm so sorry. Genetics is fickle and scary and it's something I think about a lot these days.
I do too. With my immediate family history of Alzheimer’s I thought I would get it too. Turned out to be my husband, who had no family history, who got it instead. It’s a horrible disease.
I worry that all the scientific research and progress that has been made combating it will come to a screeching halt now. It's really trite, but it just makes us take things a day at a time. Sometimes an hour at a time.
It has come to a halt. It’s horrendous. But then I remember how many MAGA thought it would help the Covid cases decrease if the elderly died from it. The cruelty has always been the point. It’s just even more cruel now. They are enjoying it.
Same. He’s about a year give or take behind my mothers advancing dementia. She’s a broken record these days and fixates on 3 topics only. He’s starting to do the same. I called this during his 24 campaign when he was sun downing right in front of us.
Did that come on suddenly?
No, not like talking one day and not talking the next. It was a steady decline.
I hope that was the only similarity. I’m sorry he’s passed.
Yes, but was your dad able to get up walk around and go play golf?
Dementia is an insidious disease that affects everyone in different ways. Yes, my father was able to walk around but was not a golfer. I hope no one in your family is ever afflicted with it.
I was asking a genuine question. You did say near the end. When my mother was near the end she was in a bed and had been for months. So I was asking if he was walking around and unable to speak near the end.
