The sheriff in *my* Florida county is presently in jail on charges of racketeering. I saw on the news a couple of days ago that they wouldn't let him bail out ($1M, btw) because they couldn't verify his money wasn't obtained illegally.

Update: he bailed out after 3 weeks. His estranged wife was also charged in the case.

I have been to several protests in his county, where I live (including today’s) & the people are very peaceful & joyful. They are pissed, but not violent.
