Yup, I know three Americans that are regular, intelligent Democrats. They voted, they are horrified by what has happened to their country, and they are very aware of the damage Trump is wreaking on Canada, and the world. They are all I care about.

Please let them know for me, that we understand that they're not the problem. Maybe they don't know that plenty of Canadians follow their politics and wait with bated breath at every election. Give them my best.
I will, and though we try to keep convos on the Boston Bruins, politics rears its ugly head. They do know Canadians follow the rise of fascism there, and they've learned about our system, from me. They love Carney! Lol
There lives would be so different if they'd elected the nice black lady.
Yes indeed, and what the SMART nice black lady did was fully expose the misogynistic racism. I read Handmaid's Tale when it was released, I could not believe such a thing could happen in North America...
Their misogynoir rises in proportion to a woman's intelligence and strength. They're happy to platform ghoulish clowns like Michael Robinson, Herman Cain, Herschel Walker, Tim Scott and even tv villain Omarosa. Republikkkans only like black people they can hold up as bad examples.
It's Mark, not Michael Robinson. My bad. And I forgot Byron Donalds. Bloody awful.
I knew who you meant lol. Power can lead to corruption, regardless of skin colour.
It's still shocks me that SO many people in that supremacist system are willing to side with the enemy for political power. Selling one's soul has to be painful. I had intended to flag photos of these deplorables. Plus, I like to correct errors.
I'm not entirely certain they had souls to sell. It shocks a normal person with even a modicum of empathy. Some people are just born this way. Upbringing may nurture and enable it, or hinder it. Haywire brain chemistry.
I got the book as soon as it published. Only read two chapters and couldn't handle it. It was terrifying. I'd read a lot of Orwell and Leon Uris. I guess I just couldn't take any more harsh realism. Have you ever noticed how much more terrifying a book is than a movie?
Always. There is depth to the terror that a movie cannot capture. I turned my back on most of that genre early and plunged straight into spec/ sci fiction and fantasy. But if I want to be scared...Holy hell....Dracula.
Jean M. Auel and Anne McCaffrey.. Absolutely thrilling and nothing scary or macabre. I loved Anne Rice and Charlaine Harris' Sookie Stackhouse series. I only find the gothic ones spooky.
I got right into The Clan of the Cave Bear and The Dragon Riders of Pern. Hooked for life.
We have similar tastes. ❤️ I have all of Anne McCaffrey's books, in fact last week I read Dragonsinger to recover from Guy Gavriel Kay. If you're in the mood for terrifying fantasy....Sherri S Tepper. "Grass"
Did you read any of Anne's son's Dragon books? He tried to follow in her footsteps. Dean Koontz "Watchers" is a sci-fi I loved. I don't know Guy Gavriel Kay. I'll get it! Thanks!
I haven't tried her son's books. Oh, so many authors, my second bedroom in my wee stone house is a library. Guy is from Weyburn and went to U of M, so I consider him a Winnipeger lol. "Tigana" is one of my faves. Yup, Watchers. I don't have a huge amount of pure Sci-fi, but David Brin is great.
