So true. I've spent 5 years being disabled by it. Millions died preventably. Very few countries are spending any resources on research into Long COVID and I know I'm fucked for life. I've been disabled since I'm 22 and have a hard time remembering 5 years ago clearly. I had to drop out of college.

I don't know why I'm bellyaching. I really shouldn't. I'm lucky. I have a great man I'm married to, I have a loving family and supportive network of aquantices and like 2 friends, and pets that love me. I get about 4 hours, max, of minimal symptoms a day but I can't even tell if I should complain.

I'm so grateful you got something to help. A lot of my symptoms just cause a real bad headache from inflammation and pretty bad lack of focus a few hours after I get up, every day. I can't imagine how hard it is and was to have to deal with it attacking your legs and lungs like others get.

And I know you're right I just tend to be very bad at dealing with my shame and guilt. I got Fibromyalgia from a DIFFERENT disease so I don't process pain properly but Long COVID makes me feel especially inept given it attacks the thing I want to use the most: My brain and my focus.

That one still makes me so mad as a lot of long COVID hauler were and are kids. I meet a girl in highschool who got it as a sophomore and had to drop out from doing any sports cause she couldn't walk for over a year, putting on a lot of weight. It breaks my heart thinking about it and her.

And she was good too. She wanted to go to the Olympics. She was one of the few people who were "Younger" at our Long COVID Support Group but I met people coming in from other states who came cause their younger loved ones couldn't. Lots of "Older" people in their 50s too. Just breaks me.

Most people would call vaccines the first line, and all that's needed for many diseases. If you're already sick it's too late for a vax. PPE can and did save lives- absent emergency it's a personal choice based on perceived risk e.g. being immunodeficient. If no vaccines, the risk is high.

It is, but not for diseases that are airborne. If you are exposed to enough viral loads, like floating in the air like smoke that you cannot see, you can get it. One way to mitigate that is accessible respiratory PPE. & believe me, covid is dangerous to literally everyone alive right now. -

That was my point in reply above. Nature is perfectly capable of occasionally generating a virus that humans can’t stop. E.g. non symptomatic carriers exist. Fast mRNA vax is today’s best defense against a new virus with high transmission and high lethality. Saved 100s of millions.
