Madame is going through her grandmother's recipe box. Not all the recipes are for food. Apparently, insisting that she not make lye soap in our kitchen makes me a bad husband.

Um... has she never seen fight club?
I'm pretty sure she blacked that movie out. The guys in our childhood friend group (myself included) were a wee bit obsessed.
Ok but ham-wrapped broccoli in cheese sauce would be good!
Where's the Slim Jim?!
Pineapple... What.
While Seafood Special is... a vibe... I might actually enjoy birthday party for two. Dessert finishes strong. Lmfao they don't even spice the meat tho
Canned cooked lobster. Jesus. The alaska sounds genuinely good!
Work me says no. Not work me says, why not.
Not work you can come listen to Ben's lecture on modern non-caustic soap recipes if you'd like.
It’s not *my* skin that’s getting burnt off so irrelevant.
Making lye soap? Fine. Cool. Fun. Do it *outside* though. Take it from me, your chemistry friend.
Hey, I passed orgo! Eventually.
That's no small feat! I taught it for two years and it was most definitely a washout class for lots of people.
3 tries, and it took Christmas mini semester classes to get it. Then I failed out again the next real semester.
I came close to a complete nervous breakdown during Physical Chemistry. Still the single hardest thing I've ever done. I'm convinced that the people who enjoy it are aliens.
You have one heck of a crazy life…
That's all in the past! I'm boring and quiet now.
Sure 😂😂😂
Really? So, no truth to the rumor you have your photo hanging in the Fenway Park security office with the words: “Approach with caution.”
That was a misunderstanding! I swear.
I feel like this is a project for @bloodyhades.bsky.social
I’m fuckin on it! Also, did you know that cursive is being offered as a “foreign language” at some schools so that archivists and librarians are prepared?
Foreign language seems wrong, but TBH, I can’t think of a better place to slot that in. And if they taught older styles of cursive, that sounds like something I’d sign up for. 👍
Yeah, they were calling it an “elective” and a “language”. I may have inserted the foreign part to be fair - I genuinely can’t remember. But we got an intern at work who was telling us all about her friend who took the course and I just flashed back to second grade.
It's "Yilawm", obviously.
Definitely thought it was gelatin and just missing a letter.
it may be, but that is odd. the recipe is a classic Gold Cake or the Gild and Silver Cakes from the 1940s-50s
Having seen what lye burns look like I am in agreement with you on this one.
THANK YOU
ok, but what about lye for making REAL pretzels at home?
I can just get real pretzels from people who know what they're doing!
I can have an ER nurse call her and scream if that would help
I'm going to clockwork orange her with the fight club scene. If that doesn't work, I'll let you know.
This is why they make PPE
If your crafting requires a tyvek suit you've gone too far
Ehhh I'd do it with an apron, long gloves, and a face shield
And a respirator
