i don't *begrudge* it or anything obv but i look at all the cool things that the BG3 cast have gotten to do (and are still doing) and i wish the DAV cast (or any of the DA casts, really) had gotten to do things like that

like i know bg3 is orders of magnitude more successful/popular than ANY of the DA games, so i get it but also like. sigh. where is the DA cast playing D&D panel. where are the podcasts. the YT vid interviews. (also the strikes didn't help, of course, but even years ago there wasn't much)
I mostly blame Gamers™️. Obviously the strike hurt, but would have been nice if they could stream the game now without running the risk of online abuse.
100% this.
oh yeah, for sure! You'd hope that nearly a year on they'd have found something new to complain about, but no. 😒
I think (and I might be wrong) that Alex Jordan did eventually play DA:TV on stream, or he's at least has acknowledged his role as Rook a few times.
he's going to play it! he hasn't yet - he started inquisition for a bit last year pre-DAV. he's playing the alters at the moment as that came out recently
I like that he's a gamer as well as a VA. I wish more VAs were gamers.
I think if you can blame anyone it is EA. Sure, Larian had instant connections in D&D, but they are also an in house marketing machine that engages the public in a way that EA does not. I would bet there were offers and opportunities for the casts that EA just said no to.
their hands were tied as the VAs were on strike from July '24, but they could have planned things out before that for sure... and it wasn't like they were much better for the prev. games (though a little bit), but then again they could have done plenty of *other* marketing and didn't do that either
The strike is a valid point though. To me EA (even BioWare itself) has never been the most top notch at community engagement. They relied heavily like most developers on events like E3 and later PAX, while Larian and Supergiant are constantly in touch with fans in some capacity.
the VAs, though - they've only been able to talk about it for a few weeks, but the window has kind of passed, sadly... I still hope they get to talk about it some time!
they sure haven't, though it used to be a bit better - the DA community does seem to be pretty toxic in many ways, devs were bullied off the OG bioware forums, then twitter, then here... after how they were treated by EA *and* fans it's no wonder they aren't lining up to engage.
Oof that sucks. I had no idea they were getting harassed like that by fans. Gamers can truly be the worst.
