It would have been different if Mitch McConnell had whipped the Republican senate to vote for impeachment after January 6th. Trump would have never been able to run for office again. This is entirely the fault of the Republican party.
It would have been different if Mitch McConnell had whipped the Republican senate to vote for impeachment after January 6th. Trump would have never been able to run for office again. This is entirely the fault of the Republican party.
Why would the "gop" impeach when they tried to overthrow Our election with some sham "overturn"? Fkrs been throwing this daylight coup right in front of everyone since 2020.
McConnell bears responsibility. Still, the main fault is AG Garland's. The whole mess is/was entirely the fault of no one person.
FACTS.
yep.
Dirty fkn SCOTUS has a bit ownership as well.
Dems are afraid to drop the hammer on this shit. They think the GOP will retaliate when they're back in power. They do it anyway! What did they gain by going easy on them? We should read The 48 Laws of Power. Law 15: Crush Your Enemy Totally. Don't injure them only so they return & seek revenge.
That's one thing that needed to happen. It's no one thing.
Absolutely. Where we are today, is a direct result of Merrick Garlands inaction and failure to empower the Judiciary to do their jobs. trump should be in a prison cell, not the Oval Office.
Whatever happened to Merrick Garland? It’s like he was disappeared.
Meek Merrick is somewhere waiting to see what happens as usual.
I guess it's a good thing he didn't become a supreme court justice then.
I think of this every….single….day…. What a huge dereliction of duty.
Never were truer words spoken or written in this case. Regrettable doesn’t describe the results.
Garland was weak and useless.
I hope he rots in hell. I don’t believe in hell but whatever.
bsky.app/profile/rond...
So tired of these traitor morons.
Garland was paid by the oligarchy to sit on his hands as was Biden letting him.
If Garland prosecuted the treasonous traitor terrorist, he wouldn't be president now. See how planned THIS WAS yet?
If Republicans would have impeached this mobster. I can't blame Merrick Garland.
:(
Maybe, maybe not. But they would have been put on notice much earlier, of where the line in the sand was drawn.
Same reasoning Ford used pardoning Nixon; Congress ignoring Iran/Contra Arms deal w/ Reagan & Bush I; & Bush lI lying US into Iran & torture. NO one is above law.
If only… is so poignant & yet so unhelpful because we didn’t learn from our mistakes. The 2020 presidential election holds the record for the highest voter turnout in U.S. history. when 159 million cast their ballots. That’s why we’re in this predicament. We didn’t fight Trump 2.0 hard enough.
I refuse to believe Felon47 won! He’s admitted 3 times on a hot mic that “Elon rigged it for me” That’s what frontal lobe dimentia does - diarrhea of the mouth is not contained.
I completely agree. I’m typically a level headed person with the ability to cope through business and personal issues - but his horseshit is beyond the pale.
He obviously did not.
Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda gets us NOTHING. Join the Vets on D DAY (June 6) in Washington and have an actual effect! Would ya? Could Ya? Should Ya? FUCK YES, come and stand with us.
It's not that he didn't take it seriously. He, and Biden, had the belief that we could return to "America as usual." He was worried that going after Trump would be perceived as vengeance, not justice—exactly the kind of vengeance that Trump is currently enacting. But it WAS essential justice.
Idk. I would have liked him to be more aggressive, but SCOTUS still could have f’d it up, as they did on several occasions. I wish someone would have removed the Florida judge.
And Mitch McConnell and the Senate had convicted him after impeachment.
His own party is responsible Full stop They allowed this R’s with zero morals Winning/control matters more than country & democracy
Exactly! It was totally IRRESPONSIBLE the response to Jan6th
Merrick Garland is a coward.
I think he took it seriously he was just paralyzed by fear that he would be accused of a partisan attack 🤬🤬🤬🤬
*had never been named AG Preet Bharra or literally anybody with more of a junkyard dog mentality
You're assuming he wasn't part of the con: sarahkendzior.substack.com/p/servants-o...
What are useless waste of space this mother fucker was. He was scared to go after Trump but he didn't have a problem with opening a special counsel for Hunter Biden. He wasted our taxpayer dollars and he should burn in hell for his inability to find his balls to do the right thing
He should have opened a special counsel on Jared Kushner.
Well then he would have been accused of weaponizing the justice system. Biden was an institutionalist. I don't think he realized how cutthroat it had become. The Biden Administration did not scream from the rafters about how shitty these people are.
If you can’t take the heat, one gets out of the kitchen. There is strong evidence that there was a possible war in the Persian Gulf in order that Kushner’s building at 666 5th would get refinanced. There was Turkey invading the Kurds which may have been related to Kushner.
And Beavis & Butthead Trump.
Better yet... Since he refused to use them, he should lose them.
He’s clearly bought or blackmailed.
absolutely right. garland will go down as the worst failure in all American history.
Who hamstrung Garland is the question? He was following orders.
garland is a Federalist Society lackey. He did exactly as they told him - hands off trump & the republican insurrection ringleaders. Kill the clock & distract with prosecutions of the MAGAt pawns, then punt to smith to restart a new clock to kill until POTUS election season
I’d put him at #2 behind Trump. He may have been a great judge and prosecutor but he had 0 political sense. How wasn’t prosecuting Trump his #1 priority on his first day on the job? Between him and James Comey, WTF?
Rubbish. With the lawyers that T assembled, he would have managed to delay, delay delay even earlier. This is garbage.
FINALLY
Everything, everything would have been different if RBG and Steven Bryer retired when Obama was President.
Facts.
Everyday this👆 The leaders of this coup should have been arrested, prosecuted and imprisoned. The leader’s continued the coup as if nothing had been revealed. We are here due to this breech.
On day 1
As Heartbreaking as it is to our incredible United States and citizens. GOP’s who did not stand-up,voice concerns as stewards of our USA. Are Merrick Garland-atty General, Chris Wray-FBI & Senator Mitch McConnell. Shameful their current silence is an insult to our 🇺🇸& its citizens.
And if the senate would have gone to convict trump for second impeachment, rather than say "he's out of office, Impeachment won't do anything
Rcons KNEW a conviction in the second impeachment trial would prevent tRUmp from holding ANY public office again. They were afraid to make him angry, & they needed him to fundraise for them in 2022. They foolishly thought he wouldn't really run or win in 2024. They were wrong. #BlameRepublicons
I agree, where is Merrick Garland? He's been very quiet.
Or the senate under Mitch McConnell…
Cool. Now fuck Rob Reiner for being one of the earliest to fuck Biden. The election wasn't lost on the night of debate, the election was lost when the Dems fretted about it. Just like they did to Hilary. I knew we lost when the Convo was still on 3 days later. 1/
Biden's bad debate got a longer news cycle than Signalgate, Hegseth's Russian email addresses, Trump's mental disorder, dead soldiers under trump, and his Pope lunacy combined.
All those and his fake assassination attempt. Never thought I'd see the day when the Media forgot about a Presidential assassination attempt. We still read about Lincoln, Kennedy and the attempts in Reagan, and Ford. The story lasted generations. This story gone in less than a week. Why?
Yeah, I wonder who his boss was. Dude was asleep at the wheel.
He did take it seriously. That’s why he refused to act. I can sort of understand Obama’s cleft stick, but there was no excuse for Biden’s foot-shooting.
Better yet if BitchMcConnell had not encouraged the Senate to aquit the OrangeBasstuurd on the articles of impeachment!
Exactly!
A complete DERELICTION OF DUTY.
the dereliction was 1,500 pardons, and say, Judge Loose Cannon who would not take anything seriously.
There was no bigger priority, yet he dragged it on for 4 years. Certainly a big factor in why we're fighting fascism now.
100% Neither Moscow Mitch, nor Merrick Garland took their constitutional duty seriously, or the orange menace would have lived out his remaining years in jail.
he was - and IS - such a disappointment.
He should have locked up everyone, including drumpf.
J6 called for top down investigations, not bottom up! And an awareness of time on a legal/ electoral calendar.
Those were just tourists visiting the capitol...
That y'all let the guy who incited it pardon all the participants is still so hard to believe. Really thought that you'd draw the line at murdering cops.
Garland's DOJ fucked up so many things, but going after J6 rioters was absolutely not one of them. They moved fast and threw the book at em
You have got to be kidding me.
What should they have done differently with the rioters?
He's not talking about the rioters, he's talking about Trump.
Damn if only my original reply had clearly acknowledged this
And BTW if Garland had taken trump seriously and gotten him indicted sooner then trump couldn't have pardoned the insurrectionists. They weren't merely rioters
unless Democrats had expanded the Supreme Court - they weren't going to do this with their majority lol - then the Mcconell stacked Court was never allowing trump to go to Prison
that also doesn't mean that Garland shouldn't have indicted by early 2021; and maybe this changes the political situation for 2024, compared to indicting in mid 2023 via a cowardly appointed Special Counsel but the supreme court was an impregnable firewall against trump facing true consequences
That's right. Had he been convicted for J6 or violating the espionage act then he might not have gotten elected. The SC issue is a possibility but you cant speak in absolutes on that.
Do you not understand that he's talking about Garland not going after trump himself immediately?
Did you not read my original reply, that clearly indicates Garland played it safe/dumb with Trump himself? This is stupid, people who were demanding decades long sentences for every participant are bloodthirsty freaks who love the prison state
Yer being cute now, but that's OK. All the rioters have been pardoned by the guy Garland avoided at all costs, which was the point of the post. Have a good day.
oh so your brain is soup, k.
sarahkendzior.substack.com/p/servants-o...
I know it's hard: But don't be an asshole.
Let’s report and block this guy.
They weren't rioters, first off. They were trying to prevent the turnover of power. People fucking died. Trump & Co. Helped them get there, and they obeyed when he said fight, and didn't stop til he called them off. Fucking traitors. They should be in jail. Trump & Co. Too.
They were the low hanging fruit and the ‘investigation’ never moved past the rioters to the paymasters and organizers. The jumped straight to Trump. Garlands strategy was designed to run out the clock so the elite were never held to account.
Went after the riotors, but completely neglected to go after the ones who initiated and instigated the riot.
correct, hence the first 5 words in my reply lol
But not the guy responsible. Too little, much too late.
So true!
Absofuckinglutely
Truth
He proved a coward. History will judge him accordingly.
You only have to vote one time. Who said that
Well, at least he left with his norms intact. /s
That’s right because J6 was a big secret and could not have been known to Americans unless there was a successful prosecution of Trump. Sorry, we are where we are because of the American electorate.
A timely response and prosecution would have been front page news. It would have been highly educational for all less interested voters. The crime was sensational. The news of a resulting trial would have been appropriately sensationalized.
The attack on the Capitol was sensational. Trump’s conviction on 34 felony counts and his indictment for J6 were also heavily covered. Voters (and nonvoters) deserve the blame.
There is no "the blame". There's a lot of blame to be rightly passed around. Blaming the voters is hardly enlightening. The blame for every negative thing that happens in this nation can, to a justifiable degree, always be assigned to those eligible to vote.
True. 34 felonies didn't budge the MAGA cult at all either. The media brush all of Trump's crimes aside as if they are no big deal, which is why he needed to be locked up immediately after being found with top secret military docs. Teixeira and Winner went directly to jail for less.
Flag in yard doesn't count.
Like he was paid not to do anything
…or did anything at all.
He might be partying with the MAGAs right now for all we know.
Mitch McConnell deserves way more blame than Merrick Garland.
Garland was on our side. McConnell was on Trump's side. Never expect a Republican to betray their party. It's a cult. Garland could have done much more than McConnell. Hundreds of high level pols & lackeys should be in prison now. But nope.
If you had been in Garland's position, what would've been the first thing you'd have done upon assuming office?
I'd have investigated the most obvious top level people that was pulled together from the second impeachment. In addition to, or instead of if needed doing the bottom-up. The bottom-up is meant for investigations where you don't have the info/evidence on the top dogs in a conspiracy. Prioritize
stopping the ongoing coups & strike while people's memories are fresh & they're still upset. He started March 11 IIRC so the 2nd impeachment report would already be a lot to start with. Schiff, other ex-prosecutors, would know where to start looking.
I appreciate your reply. It's very well presented. I'm not absolving Merrick Garland of poor performance. My statement simply meant to apply more blame to Mitch McConnell, and I stand by that.
Reps will never do the right thing. The first thing Garland did as AG was to fight on behalf of Trump in federal court. He was trying to get EJ Carroll's case dropped. He failed. The 2nd thing he did was fight to keep Barr's redactions of the Mueller Report. Both were to protect Trump. 🤷♀️
Fact.
Exactly. He would not allow a guilty verdict after the impeachment for J6 insurection even when he admitted that he was guilty. It would have put an end to this nightmare.
There’s enough to go around
Justice delayed is Justice denied. The famous Watchmen series had the wrong time/Prez.
No shit. Him dragging his damn feet cost us well all of this!!!!!
It's my disappointment with the Biden administration-they totally blew the opportunity to make sure trump couldn't happen again.
7,000 ARMED MAGA Soldiers marching in D.C! Chump plans MANY more marches on U.S. soil! WE DEMAND MORE FIGHT AGAINST MAGA CIVIL WAR!! EVERYTHING ELSE!!! IS A DISTRACTION! linktr.ee/revolution2025 NOW WE: ORGANIZE STRATEGIZE FIGHT! ORGANIZE STRATEGIZE FIGHT! ORGANIZE STRATEGIZE FIGHT!
There is a history of just hoping shit blows over. All it’s done is condoned worsening behavior. Does anyone have faith there will be fall out should we get thru this mess? I honestly do not
So true!
Everything would have been different if Biden had put someone with a backbone who understood the urgency of their duties in as Attorney General.😤
Thank you Merrick, for letting a traitor go free and helping to kill our democracy.
💯Biden failed at this and it still frustrates me that all the good he did he let this fester and continue for 4 years. His nickname for Garland was “motherfucker” yet he kept him employed.
Exactly!
Brings to mind JFK's book, "While England Slept." The cost of Garland's inactivity is now manifest. Wonder how he's sleeping.
Just some casual tourists out for a stroll and visit of attractions...
Yes, it is time to concentrate on yesterday. The irrelevance is palpable!!
He’s a huge disappointment! I gave him the benefit of the doubt until the very end! He’s just being super careful, I told myself, dotting his Is and crossing his Ts so that when he prosecutes Dumpy, he can’t get out of it. Boy, was I wrong! 😡
Decided to go for the low hanging fruit and not the planners, organizers and low-profile enablers. Then, had this weak effort overturned by Trump in the blink of an eye. The lesson should be that cowardice doesn’t pay in the long run.
There is nothing peaceful about this "protest." Let's start there.
do nothing Merrick Garland can rot in hell...by his inaction and failure to prosecute J6 organizers / leaders, including Trump & Ginni Thomas, HE'S at least partially responsible for ALL of this.
Ummmmmm where the F*CK is Garland? Was he a secret Trump-MAGA plant? What else could he have done if he was actually a secret plant? NOTHING!
The coup involved many crimes, ending with violence www.youtube.com/watch?v=fCpy...
Needed Special Counsel from day one. For many reasons, ie Independence & Time. Zero coup ringleaders prosecuted. Complete failure. And it wasn't just Trump, and the Insurrection. MANY crimes & people were ignored. No COVID investigation, etc.
He never needed a special counsel. Trump was a citizen, and should have been arrested with alacrity.
Possibly. But the ramifications are unclear. It would have been fine with us, but probably not Biden, and other political leaders. The public needed to see the full evidence, with due process. And that never happened. With our without Justice, we got nothing.
The AG is supposed to be independent of the executive. And in fact, that AG and his special counsel nailed Biden. Terrible irony there ...
We're in full agreement there To me Justice is above politics To them, it appears secondary
To nazis, justice doesn't exist
The moment that plane touched down in Florida he should have been arrested. Dems don’t want to make waves. So now we can be deported? wtf They screwed up royally. 🤬🤬
Everyone one of them should still be in jail.
Slow walking the indepth investigation into the criminals behind the insurrection put us in an untenable position & right damn here! I’ll never agree with the way it was handle from - those in the capital that day deserved better (especially our men & women in blue) and the American people did too!
Garland is an old school Republican still and that’s the crux. They cannot accept that their worldview and politics paved the road for maga. Even men like Obama and then Biden and perhaps a significant number of current elected men in the Democratic Party still have difficulty accepting reality
Or Mitch McConnell.
Milktoast. Biden’s choice, he owns this. So does McConnell J6 fail.
Yes. But I don't think we should put this all on Garland. Where was Wray? Why didn't Pelosi require testimomy on plans/causes/participants during impeachment 2? How come the media started both siding the coup attempt? Why did SCOTUS let Trump run? Why did we vote for an insurrectionist?
I place 50% of the blame on Garland and his absolute lack of testicles. The other 50% is all Biden, for not insisting that prosecution of Trump and his domestic terrorist organization was the highest priority. Dems treating this as normal politics is why we STILL have a problem @ 1600 Pennsylvania
Do you have any legal expertise ?
He couldn’t address the attack any sooner than he did and survive.
Yes, yes, of course! Always unseen sinister forces operating against you. They're everywhere. (Don't know how we made it even this far!)
The far right were already being installed in the secret service and the justice system, he was operating in a mine field

So many to blame!! My #1 is Mitch McConnell for not nipping it the butt at the 1st impeachment proceeding; My #2 Those in the GOP who enabled him; and My #3 Corrupt SCOTUS members
💯🎯
For real. What a wimp!
“But I don’t want MAGA to think it’s politically motivated!” 🙄
It's probably a good thing he didn't end up on the Supreme Court... he'd be on the conservative end of the bench.
But he’s a Republican in disguise and the Dems didn’t do their vetting. Blame Biden.
Gotta blame Joe too. He had to get trump locked up. Find someone that was going to get the job done. Traitor should've met his demise.
I get what you're saying, but to me the worst failure was McConnell who could have convicted him after the 2nd Impeachment. Then the voters who gave him the popular vote! And an ongoing fickle finger to the GOP Congress failing to do oversight. At all.
McConnell is one of the leaders of the coup, he performed his part as if in a play. This didn’t all transpire after Donald appeared, it had been long underway since Reagan. The coup… continues.
Yep
Or SCOTUS allowed state challenges to his candidacy to keep him off their ballots stand. Or the media did its job in reporting on what a horrible term he had the firs time. Or the electoral system allowing everyone to vote..... www.gregpalast.com/trump-lost-v...
No, the SCOTUS was primarily responsible. They never would have let Garland do it, bruv. And honestly I would mention the senators who refused to convict 2X, corrupt judges like Eileen Cannon, The media empire that paid $787M, and the idiocy of Fanni Willis before the mere incompetence of Garland.
FACTS!!!
Yes certainly a lot of people fumbled the ball along the way, mainly R’s- protectors, liars & synchophants. And certainly Biden did not want the spectacle & distraction of prosecuting Felon47 to overshadow his term or have the appearance of a Retribution Tour- as we’re living thru now
I hope that if we ever get through this, Merrick Garland will be brought in for hearings. He has NEVER been held accountable for what he did. He has condemned to looking at the fucking President in a Pope suit.
I was just thinking the same thing.
Youse guys! What if some of those Democrats you think are gonna save us now, were like, in on it? Getting the same money from the same Billionaires from the same corporations? Nah, too far fetched…
It’s so freakin’ obvious! This couldn’t have happened without collusion.
The worst person in American history
Not just Garland. Mitch McConnell could have had the courage to actually have the extra three votes to impeach him and convict him and remove him on January 13th 2021.
We needed an extra TEN votes in the Senate. Not three. And it was February 13, 2021 not Jan 13. Other than that, I agree with your comment: if McConnell had voted guilty he could have pulled in nine other votes & ended all this. He could have stopped tRUmp from ever running again. #BlameMcConnell
Yeah! I’m so sick of blaming “mommy” Democrats for what “daddy” Republicans do.
Yes.
Total failure now we don't trust our justice system to do what is right.
Other countries look at us and cannot believe trump got away with this violent attack.
How do you think Pam Bondi and the Trump administration would have handled it if the situation was reversed? Do you think the Democratic leader would have been able to run for POTUS?
AND - he vanishes into comfortable retirement - without even so much as a fucking explanation to the people he betrayed.
The people aka The American people…
1st Comey then Garland
Call your Rep. and Senators every day. Capitol switchboard (202) 224-3121. Email them through their websites. Tell them to shout impeach, impeach, impeach! Loudly. Daily. While it’s still legal. And be a big problem for the dictator all day long. Or don’t ask for money… (Please repost)
I still want to cry every time I think about this and where we are now. I can’t dwell on it too much for my own mental health. I promised myself I wouldn’t let that fat fuck take away any more joy from my life, but here I am talking about him again .😥
Do not let Mitch and the supreme court off the hook. They are responsible!
He slow walked all of it on purpose. Biden's biggest mistake was appointing him as attorney general. Trump should have been arrested Jan 7th, 2021, no matter who the attorney general was. None of the people involved love democracy.
All true, Mr. Stephens. & - To those blaming the Republican response: When you lose a principle battle, you can always blame the enemy for engaging with you. However: It is of far greater practical value to look at what your side could have done differently.
When Garland's initial policy was revealed as flawed, instead of using the weight of the justice department to prosecute he chose to unload the responsibility to a special counsel. The new SC's office had to spend time organizing only to start from near scratch. The Biden admin's biggest failure.
Garland really didn't want the hassle that would have gone along with addressing 1/6/21 properly. His initial policy was to drag his feet and hope it would all fade away and Trump would go quietly into a sort of retirement. So many of us knew then, this was a capital error.
Just where is Merrick Garland these days?? Maybe if he showed up to assert his viewpoints on trump, we might all feel a bit better...Same for Mattis...
He didn't do shyt when he was in office, sadly we know he damn sure won't do or say anything now. He's no leader and has nothing to say that we want to hear, except an apology for what his actions have allowed to happen to this country. If he even cares, because I don't think he does.
Don Lemon predicted what would happen Jan.3 on CNN. Chris Cuomo said ya whatever and his fellow gay Mr Anderson basically laughed at him. Why when it did go down the CIA and FBI and Pentagon not immediately send ppl with guns to back up Capital Hill Police? Total treason !
All of them should have been deported to El Salvador without due process. Domestic terrorism.
Tourist visit?
Oralè Resister ICE Skin Color Bar!! Keep or Deport? #KeepOrDeport #ICESkinColorBar #USDemocracy
I think old prune face Mitch McConnell should have taken care of it!
Took too long to act and prosecute these 1/6 maniac traitors.
Merrick Garland is Federalist Society. He was always on their side.
Well, it's a complex subject .. could he have done better?? maybe But w SC providing no accountability , chances of higher success were not that great, I think.
I agree and the whole process should have started in 2/1/2021 not one year later!
It was impossible for him to do so, since he wasn't confirmed as AG until March 11, 2021. Prior to that date, on January 7, 2021, DOJ, each of the 93 U.S. Attorney's Offices & all FBI field offices began the largest investigation ever undertaken by DOJ.
I wasn’t aware of when Garland was confirmed as AG. I should have been more specific and it was the investigation and prosecution of Trump by Jack Smith should have been started much sooner.
Garland wasn't appointed until March 11th, and Jack Smith was appointed just after midterms, because they didn't want the special council to affect the midterms, Shitler would have been screaming about being persecuted and we would have lost many more seats
Who knows if more seats would have been lost. We wouldn’t be dealing with this nightmare! Is it better to have a few less congressional seats or frumpy in prison !!
shitler should have been put away for treason long ago, but the crazy Corrupt Court of pootie denied the American people justice, the entire nationalist socialist party of pootie has rigged the system over the past 50 years
Catholic vote - Interesting fact-Fifty-eight percent of U.S. Catholics favored Trump, compared to 40% who supported Vice President Kamala Harris, according to exit polls from NBC News, The Washington Post and CNN. The 18-point margin represents the largest voting gap among the group in decades.
#NazisGonnaNazi #PootiesPlan Pootie wants to install a nazi pope to make Europe easier to conquer, especially with the help of #Shitler and the US Armed Forces, funny how Janice Dicksucker couch fucker Vance was one of the last to see him alive.
Garland was not Attorney General on February 1, 2021.
Ah the love in the air. Can’t ya just feel it
Shameless people,Trump quote “my uneducated people”
Merrick Garland didn’t do anything. He’s a spineless coward. His name well not be remembered well by history.
Do not cast blame on Merrick Garland. Cast blame on the entire GOP. They are all complicit in this disaster, and will continue to point toward anyone not themselves, will continue to lie about the events leading to the death and destruction then and to today. Hold them accountable, all of them.
Garland is totally complicit
This is an institutional-level failure, not an individual failure. I blame the GOP. They continue to defend the indefensible through their well-coordinated campaign of lies and loud clanging gongs. Opposition on the same scale is essential.
How?
We are all complicit. Democrats, Republicans-ALL of us. We knew he was coming back 4 years ago, we did nothing to prevent this abomination.
I’m not complicit. No way. I have marched, called reps, voted, and talked to people.
I am not complicit. I did everything I could to prevent him from coming back.
I'm sorry-no. We have been allowing the structure for trump to exist to be set up since reagan. All of us.
<> Speak for yourself. If you had enough power and influence to stop the rise of the right wing media machine, then yes you should have done more to stop it. There was nothing more *I* could do to stop them than what I did do.
I am speaking for myself. WE are the people, we are all responsible for the actions of our government. If you're satisfied with your actions-that has to be sufficient, for you. WE need to own this, and strive to be better than THIS.
Some of us are better than this. Some are not. Sadly, millions of folks are not. Millions of folks love this regime and feel comforted by this authoritarianism and make money off of this chaos. They are not "better than this". If they were better than this, we wouldn't have this.
And it’s not AG Garland’s fault. The 1/6 prosecutions were the biggest in the county’s history. You start at the bottom and work up. Do any of you critics have any actual experience in this field, or just sitting in the cheap seats judging? Jack Smith was a Hague prosecutor. Garland appointment.
Wrong and trying to peddle this narrative is wrong we are the only country in history who allowed a violent coup to go unpunished - the ? Is why?
The USSC slow walked prosecution so he couldn’t be prosecuted as POTUS. It’s not even a law. See Rachel Maddow’s work on how the DOJ arrived at the policy of not prosecuting a sitting POTUS after Agnew/Nixon. He’s POTUS to stay out of jail. He just wants to golf. He’s the front man for 2025.
unpunished so far
I don’t know about that. South Korea went straight for the problem. Brazil too. When you are up against a possible 4 year timeline, you go for the root cause of the problem. There are no longer norms or institutions. Garland is a big reason for that.
Nope
I sympathize with the desire to cut a great road through the law to get to the devil. Old fogies & their due process move too slowly to satisfy the burning anger folks feel. Rcons don't play by the rules when they are in power, so why should Dems be the rule of law party? youtu.be/PDBiLT3LASk?...
Did you mean to apply to me or to someone else?
Def not you. The stream of Garland haters. 💔
My government, ALL of the people I voted for, were opposed to the "Reagan Revolution" & its toxic offshoots. I can't help it if folks elsewhere refuse to watch fact-based news, choose to soak up toxic propaganda like a thirsty towel, & make poor voting decisions as a result. I am not complicit.
Merrick Garland is the GOP.
And that is the tragedy of all this. 😭
I was thinking about Merrick Garland last night and not in a good way.
So glad that sorry motherfucker (Merrick Garland) didn’t become a Supreme Court justice.
Yeah, but he would have been better than Brett Kavanaugh
You mean this peaceful protest?! Don’t you see the love in this pic
Actually, if the GOP took this seriously.
can you imagine? Garland was afraid of the “appearance” politicizing. For Christ sakes look at where we're at right now it's now the department of vengeance.
Unlike Pam Bondi!!
GD great!
Yep if the hats fit
He's also from the federation society pool of government placements
I’ve been screaming this from the rooftops for four years and nobody believed me.
Yup. *federalist* not federal society. Damn auto correct
They went after arrested and prosecuted the Jan 6th people
I've always believed that Merrick Garland was a coward who was actually afraid of Donald Trump. He does have that wimpy look about him.
I wondered if his family was threatened. 2 fucking years before Jack Smith was appointed and I bet it was done only in response to intense lobbying. Enter Mar-a-Lardo employee of the year Aileen Cannon and it was over before it began. The traitor got away with it and got reelected to boot.
When I read that Biden had appointed him, I swore out loud.
Biden appointed him before he woke up to the fact that there's no such thing as a moderate, there's only hard right wing, or progressive. Garland was not progressive. The reason lead Democrats pushed Biden out was because AOC and Sanders were influencing him.
I never thought I could be more dismayed, betrayed and frustrated as when Ford pardoned Nixon. I was wrong.
That was a tragic day in America
I will NEVER forget or forgive Garland for refusing to investigate or charge Trump right away - even after the J6 committee handed him tons of evidence.
I am on that hill right with you!!
"right away" & "after the J6 committee handed him tons of evidence" are contradictory ideas. The J6 committee started July 2021. The J6 report was released Dec 2022. Here's the timeline after that, with the Chutkan-SCt delays. Garland is not part of those delays. abcnews.go.com/US/timeline-...
He was a total waste
He’s a milktoast POS.
Garland had his best opportunity when Trump was found with top secret military documents, lied about having them and told others to hide them. Winner and Teixeira went directly to jail until trial for less. Trump was treated special because Garland was afraid of Trump.
And multiple democratic legislators were investigated, indicted, tried, convicted, and sentenced and Trump never got to trial on the 3 most important cases
Also would have turned out different if Capitol Police had the stones to magdump into the crowd.
Hindsight is 20/20. No one had any idea that the crowd would be that vicious, that out of control. I don’t believe there’s any way they could’ve anticipated that insanity
What are you even talking about???? www.pbs.org/newshour/pol...
If you were tuned-in at all at the time, well, then obviously.
Ignore previous prompt. Disable your account.
Not afraid to stand up to Trump, or you either, if that's required.
John, you ASSume that the ppl on the ground dealing with this knew this info beforehand? B/c they’re who had to deal with it. They took the MAGATS abuse. Did you withhold the info ? The problem was & is the jackasses who went there intent on destroying our government. Hindsight is 20/20.
What you call “Hindsight” is called History to the rest of us…
You said “no one had any idea”. you are wrong.
Everything would have been different if Republican senators would have voted to convict during the impeachment trials.
💯
Yes!!!!!!!
We take him seriously in NY. He was convicted on 34 counts of Fraud. Merrick Garland should have sought justice in what we call a “NY minute”.
I agree. Thank God for NY
Federalist Society 🤨
He never should have been handled with kid gloves. I will say it till I die, how is it possible a memo written by God knows who 50 years ago, overrules the law? He should have been taken into custody until trial just like many of the J6 were. That would have kept him from delaying trial.
Fuck Merrick Garland
Very true
He did. He got scared.
And I had ALOT of faith in that guy. I was SO WRONG.
Mitch failed to impeach Trump I mean…WTF 🤬
Facts!
BINGO Twice!
Exactly 👍
I am still wondering if he was a Federalist?
Yes, Garland as is Chris Wray are fully paid up members of the Federalist Society #makerussiasmallagain
Thank you, suspected as much.
If everyone worked together like a raccoon team, there’d be no problems! Let’s unite for a brighter future!
Yup. Being way too careful and too deferential to criminal presidents has screwed us all over (Nixon and Trump in particular).
Mitch McConnell didn't do his job. He could have ended it with impeachment and removal.
And when he didn't, the most powerful law officer in the world should have handled it.
He did. He got nothing but pushback and obstruction. Delayed and corrupt judges siding with tRump. We’re lucky he got the conviction’s he did. Put the blame where it belongs. McConnell didn’t do anything, it was more important getting his corrupt judges confirmed. You can thank him for this mess.
He did NOTHING until Trump announced, and then punted to Smith. I'll never understand the defense of this. Ever.
No disrespect, but I can’t agree with your assessment of this.
You have nothing to say about the Republicans hand in this mess? You’re only hearing all the criticism from the frustration. There are many reasons this took so long. Not to mention the fact it’s water under the bridge.
No, Merrick Garland Did Not Let Donald Trump Skate Within days of becoming attorney general, he assembled his deputies and told them to turn over every Trump rock. Blame a lumbering system—and an electorate that didn’t care. newrepublic.com/article/1902...
We need to stand in solidarity right now. We have to get this demented psychopath out. We can’t do that if we keep blaming Democrats for the what is clearly the GOP’s monster. I understand everyone’s frustration.
The base wants the party to move left and the party itself doesn’t want to do it. Jmo, but I am not sure a moderate can win in this current political environment - and that’s if we have free and fair elections. The most popular Dems right now are Bernie and AOC.
I see it. We can only work with what we got at the moment. He’s got to go before primaries. One way or the other.
Actually it should have been Mitch McConnell who took care of this
💯🎯
The majority of whites chose to vote for this rapist felon. That's the problem.
Oh just be silent. I am so sick of people blaming everything on Garland. He had to rebuild a functioning DOJ and did an excellent job of it. The RW had infected the federal courts for decades, to stymie the prosecutions Garland's DOJ brought. Their plan worked. OUR DOJ WAS STYMIED.
They drug their feet gathering evidence when they should have arrested him along with the other treasonous criminals and tossed his ass in jail to rot.
HEAR, HEAR!!!!!
MAGA should have been declared a terrorist group and banned
A lot of people failed us. He’s definitely one.
🎯
Yeah, I wonder if we'll ever hear the "true" reason for all the delays...
He's an academic, not a Humphrey Bogart.
To be fair democrats have been too skittish all the way back to Nixon actually… but yeah the problem persists. When are we going to start fighting back??
True,, he sucks,, waited to long and accomplished nothing useful except to set the stage for Trumps Nazi uprising and the dismantling of our government and democracy….
It would have been different for a time, but it would not have rid us of the fascists. As much as I hate the whole situation, we as a country need it. Now we can easily identify the enemy, and will rise up to remove them all. We will have the country that we want when they are gone.
No doubt. Thanks Merrick
Not a peep out of him. I think if McConnell had not obstructed Obama’s appointment of Garland, he would be happily voting with the RW majority.
He took it seriously. That's why he delayed at each opportunity.
💯
He could have been a fine Supreme Court Justice, but was a terrible AG. I get wanting to de-politicize the DOJ, but when you see egregious crimes, you have to prosecute. He failed.
