8/19/78: moving into my dorm at U of MD College Park for freshman yr- fun times! Joining you today from Granby, CO- this altitude is kicking my butt!! This was the peak altitude driving over the mountains into the valley where my son lives. Still 8000 ft and having to take it very slow today #AT40

How crazy is this? The Leadville 100 (CO) mountain bike race starts at around 10,000' altitude, and climbs to around 12,600'. I know someone who competes in this, and can't even begin to imagine what it takes!

We were in Leadville on Tuesday! That altitude is serious business – I can't imagine a bike race at that altitude! I needed a can of oxygen when we were at 12,000 feet in Rocky Mountain national Park

It is absolutely gorgeous here. 65° and clear – absolutely loving it. I'll love it more when my 65 year-old lungs get used to this altitude though😆

That’s pretty high when you’re not used to it. Just take it easy

Yep. I've lived my entire life at sea level! Fortunately, my son and his partner anticipated I would need at least 24 to 36 hours to get used to it. So just taking it slow today but enjoying the cool weather – a welcome relief from the heat and humidity at home (Wilmington NC)

One of my cousins that I've only met a couple times went there. That might have been her freshman year, too.
