Stop using AirBnB, everyone. They have zero sense of social responsiblity and governments refuse to rein them in, so we have to do it.

They’re a pestilence. There’s an Aussie expat in the Hudson Valley NY devoted to crunching global data about airbnb and its impact on local housing stock. Murray Cox. Legend. When I lived in Newark New Jersey his info painted a devastating picture - shame local gov had no interest in taking them on
It would be so interesting to get an idea of the global patterns. Incredible really, to think about how many communities they've impacted.
I’m in Tassie now, and coming up to speed with housing issues here too. But the idiotic stadium is using up a lot of oxygen
We going to suffocate from it if not careful.
Some councils are taking action but not enough.... complicated by the fact that, as the article points out, residents have gotten used to relying on AirBnB income. But personally I think we need to change the way we book accommodation. Just don't book something if it could be a home.
insideairbnb.com/about/ this is Murray Cox’s project
Thank you!
Someone (shrug emoji) has started posting these up around Byron Bay...
Oh that's a great idea! (of that mysterious unknown person who has design skills)
Time for whatever hotelier association exists to get together and advertise the advantages, like the fact you don’t have to clean your hotel room before you leave. Service is good! When we were in Hobart at the start of the month there were multiple hotel branded courtesy umbrellas on the street.
Yeah! It’s nice! You don’t get scolded if you leave a towel on the floor.
We refilled our water bottles from the bar, 24hour front desk can send you up anything you need, LOBBY TOILETS so split the necessities of bathroom sharing, any problems get fixed immediately, towel rotation - honestly you could do an ad for every one of those points and still have another 20.
Me too! They’re actually really helpful.
(I love hotels lol)
