They weren’t forced to use go fund me when they could have purchased a life insurance policy at any time that would have cost less than the monthly maintenance for a boat or motorcycle.

I've had a good life insurance for several years because I'm privileged by coincidence of my occupation to have it. Not everyone has luck that good

No. That’s why it’s on them as adults to seek out and purchase their own life insurance policies before they sink money into boats and motorcycles. Anything less shows a lack of foresight. Which is the definition of “short sighted.”
