They’re all armchair prognosticators who didn’t start paying attention until they got frightened
I used to have similar conversations about how stupid it was to worry about China invading the United States I think we'll notice them building ten thousand troop ships
And even if we didn't notice, we'd sure see them coming, and I doubt more than a handful would even get as far as Hawaii.
yeah And even if they make it, we've had time to reinforce the west coast, and *even if* they take the West Coast (at the cost of millions of troops) they now have to fight their way 2800 miles east while taking and holding 3 million square miles of territory
Occupied by 350 million civilians who are armed to the teeth, lol
"If every worker was staffed in the army and fleet, we'd have full employment – and nothing to eat."
Sure, until the flood of social media saying "hey there's no one at my polling place come vote harder" bsky.app/profile/dooo...
Don't need that many to make police action untenable. It's estimated ~15M people participated in the 2020 protests – that's only 4% of the country, on an issue that most never care about bsky.app/profile/koth...
They shot at people throughout Summer 2020 too, it just makes the protests larger Also... a lot of Americans have guns and would shoot back bsky.app/profile/tres...
But you can't be an above-it-all cynic defeatist when you acknowledge basic realities like this WQ bsky.app/profile/wqsa...
No. If you're going for permanent rule *and actually think it's possible* you do a slow boil like Hungary or India You don't intentionally trigger thermostatic backlash bsky.app/profile/huds...
The rush job is entirely to make parts of the agenda a fait accompli that are hard to undo when the other side takes power in a couple years, hoping that the effort to unfuck it is never spent b/c of other priorities 2/2 @hudsonrivercroc.bsky.social
I don't think they're doing this as a rush job in that sense. I think they're still ratcheting up the absurdity and/or severity of what they're doing to see if they can get away with it, with Trump '28 as an ideal end point. I think they're rushing because there's limited time to get there.
Like I fully believe many of them WANT to make that kind of craven power play for permanent control, but they want to know they'll be able to get away with it before they actually take that step.
That argument works for Trump, Kegseth, etc. IMO it doesn't work for Miller, Vought, and most of the Project 2025 crowd They're evil, not stupid bsky.app/profile/post...
This too. About a third of the active-duty military voted Harris bsky.app/profile/mike...
"Culling the loyalists" == reducing the number of available bodies to carry out orders This makes their logistics problems worse, not better bsky.app/profile/fuba...
They are culling the non loyalists as quickly as they can, same as all other government agencies.
We’ll have zampolit soon
Honestly, thats kind of alarmingly low.
I can’t figure out where to start a new question… but can Supreme Court “shadow docket” rulings be cited for precedent later? If not, could this be why they are using it so often so they can reverse course for Democrats?
They don't see themselves as evil. I think that Miller, Voight, etc, think they can be a part of a popular movement. They truly believe in their bullcrap. I think they expect that they will be popular by the election. If not, they will hold on thinking they just need "a few more months".
Vought, absolutely. Miller strikes me as a classic case of someone who decided he knew everything there is to know in middle school and never even attempted to disabuse himself of that notion.
The 2025 guys may not be stupid, but their ideas are so abhorrent that they need to find stupid people like Trump to hide behind.
And a base primed to believe that any action taken against them is based on animus rather than they are evil lawbreaking fscks. At some point it would be nice if people started to accept that reality doesn't care about feelings or vague hazy wishful memories.
I think you overestimate their intelligence and underestimate their aggression and ambition spiraling with each success.
Okay but what if you're going for permanent autocracy and you're really, really stupid?
I just don't think you can discount the fact that not a one of them has ever cracked a serious history book or considered that they might know less than the complete sum of all human knowledge plus a few yet-unrealized universal truths.
Heck, in California, a bunch of people in yoga pants and flip-flops help off ICE for 8hrs outside of Home Depot.

Is their argument that we would have won Afghanistan by being more sadistically murderous? Or that what didn't work there will work in a country with eight times the population and fifteen times the land? Not even thinking about the military disloyalty that would be inevitable in the ranks.
I think people underestimate how profoundly used to complete impunity American cops are. I'm sure they think they want to start shooting, but I'm sure they're deeply unprepared for anyone shooting back
There's a pretty obvious historical precedent for public opinion massively turning against the government in reaction to National Guardsmen opening fire on Americans.
There's already videos of neighborhoods driving the goons out all over
"There are certain sections of New York, Major, that I wouldn't advise you to try to invade." is still true.
And honestly, the defeatist mentality is part of why we ended up here. Dems are not the most attractive club to join. They ooze defeat and wimpiness. I say that’s as someone who has never voted for anything other than a Dem.
That's in the future, with a different strategy. On voting day all they need is a few people at each location, ICE will help with that. Plus part of the strategy might be closing some voting locations. I'm sure they have a lot of illegal ideas, they might be listed in project 2025.
I think the one reason I have for modest skepticism of your position is that I fear too many folks are too timorous to show up once bullets start flying. It's a lot easier to pacify a bunch of folks who are huddled in their homes.
I mean, youre not wrong but armed fascists in the street scare people.
they do, and that's part of their goal for sure i wrote my thread tbh because my girlfriend was getting wrecked by constant illogical doomerizing and i had simply gotten fed up with everyone doing it love is weird
I think its just because nobody expected it to get so bad so fast and are assuming the worst case scenario for everything. Im guilty of it from time to time which is why I like following you, because you bring things back to reality.
