I believe* chaleco salvavidas. Chaleco being like vest and salvavidas being lifesaving. Could probably get away with just chaleco. * Not a native speaker
It's just "salvavidas", I believe. Like can opener is "abrelatas". There are a whole bunch of nouns that have these functional names.

Wiktionary says "salvavidas" is one of these 🛟. I think the other person may be correct with "chaleco salvavidas". (I only see the word when I read the airline safety card out of boredom. Assumed it was lifejacket.)

i just would hate to watch somebody go into that water without being able to warn them. i'm sure the signage is in every language but teenagers don't read the signs
So MultCo has great translated material on safety during extremely hot weather, and I sent them an email to ask if they’re planning anything similar for swimming safety. Maybe they’ll get cracking on it too.
they should!! it's the hot weather early in the season before the water warms up that always gets people too, so they should hustle

here too but i imagine ours were mostly drunk driving. people get a little warm and they go bananas
And the parents/elders might not know either! Spreading the word about cold PNW water is good even if they’re working while their kids enjoy free-ranging

yeah, we had 3 separate instances one summer a few years ago. the worst part was it was people from the Karen refugee community. The adults weren't literate in their own language, much less English.
I live up river and the number of people who try to raft down with kids this time of year is unbelievable. It's cold and there's at least one class 3 between Dodge and Oxbow.
The city should really put up multilingual signs along the river with clear visual representations of the risk, if this is a serious recurring issue!
+1 adding it to Know Your Rights cards and leaving a pile at the park
