This. Please don’t think that most of us feel this way. 1/3 (!) of Americans didn’t vote - unpacking that would probably be a doctoral dissertation - and 1/3 voted for Harris. It’s not close to a mandate for Trump. I’m getting my ducks in a row so we have options for emigrating if need be.

Thank you - it is surreal to be a citizen of what I had always thought to be a stable nation who wanted peace and to work with other nations. What I learned as a kid was that this was an imperfect, improving place with checks and balances and where anyone could come for a better life.

When Trump was elected the first time, I was devastated and I learned that the US is not what I had thought it was. When Biden was elected, I thought we had turned it around. With Trump again, now I am irate and fearful that with the decimation he’s already done, our democracy will fail.
