I would blame them for not introducing legislation to overturn the faulty act that the court ruled on but don't think you've got any evidence of political interference or that the court could be influenced. It's created a ridiculous situation so asking for it would have been nuts.

Falkner has been trying to force the govt into this position for years; the SC ruling gave Starmer a perfect time to say "no, we will legislate to fix this" and instead he flip flopped. Streeting has been trying to curry favour with JK Rowling since she slagged off Labour. It's all documented.

The SC themselves had to specifically say this wasn't a victory for GC movements but the govt has done nothing to back that up. Hard to argue the govt didn't want this outcome. Starmer is a performative ally because he wants votes, he cannot be trusted by anyone.

Why? His performative words when Brianna Ghey's mother was in the Commons do not reflect any of his actions post SC ruling. Starmer is so scared of the far right he will bend to their every whim. Utter political coward, no backbone, and worse than the Tories. At least they are consistent bigots.

None of which indicates either pressure in the court or tat the court would be influenced. Fortunately we aren't America with its politically appointed judges. I repeat the act should have been amended.

The SC has already been under scrutiny for giving the impression of being pressured into following political whims under the last government. static1.squarespace.com/static/6033d...

Measures to prevent any impression of interference but the report itself only refers to "the appearance of" rather than actual. I repeat the govt would have been made to want this outcome.

The actions of this government for the past year suggest they enjoy creating stupid outcomes. They bungled dealing with Southport fallout, leading to riots. Refugee crossings have been left to the far-right to create a narrative. Incompetent handling of transport policy. It goes on.

A government with a solid Commons majority is currently looking at losing the next election with a Reform majority of 44. They'd be mad to try and be Diet Farage, but here we are. They are doing everything to appease the far-right who will never vote Labour whilst alienating anyone left of Reform.

Full report: www.icdr.co.uk/news/judicia... It's just false to suggest our MPs aren't driving the judiciary in a subservient direction. "Enemies of the People" originated from politicians briefing the Daily Mail.
