I work grocery retail. Our sales are under forecast by quite a bit, and prices are going up, up, up. Price increases aren't incremental, they're going up a buck or two at a time. Low grade hamburger is around $8 or $9 a pound. We all see reality.

The places we go regularly are noticeably less crowded. Less people at the campground, less in local restaurants (a few exceptions), and we have cut back considerably. Groceries have skyrocketed, gas has barely come down, all our other regular bills are up.

There are still retailers who are buying in bulk to avoid even higher prices down the road, as well as customers wanting to stock up, or make that one big purchase (like a new vehicle). Plenty are still buying on Amazon. Only about 20% of the increasing prices have reached the retail market.
