My fervent hope this lasts and this is the year we get a proper fall again instead of the two weeks we’ve been getting between unseasonably hot and prematurely cold.
for sure! i hate that the two seasons getting most walloped by climate change are spring and fall because they’re the best
I have flowering trees on my street and for two years in a row they’ve blossomed way early only to get walloped by a cold snap and then the blossoms all fall off. In about a two-day span.
this is why i had no pears or rainier cherries this year. :/ they blossomed out completely during that march warm-up for a week before it went frigid again. the bees were not fooled and and stayed cozy until mid-june, so no pollination
as a result, i do believe today will be cider-starting day! i have a load of lord lambourne apples picked & washed, so i’m going to watch the thursday murder club while i juice them! no pressure to “get out & enjoy the weather” as it looks like many more such days are incoming lol
got 3 gallons of juice and these are apparently bewitched apples because the juice tastes like i added a hint of cinnamon and brown sugar when i haven’t,, ? wondering if i should just can the juice as is b/c i’ll probs lose those notes in the fermentation process 🤔
nice!! i'm baking an apple-and-onion cake as we speak
oh god that sounds amazing
