If a state is gerrymandered to the hilt, it is very difficult to get new representation into office. They also pass more and more restrictive voting laws to disenfranchise voters. The dems need to run & fund candidates in red states/districts. The media & disinformation is another factor.

Increasingly it seems the only way to fix this is to burn the entire system down and rebuild it from the bottom up.

Truth told, that system was long due for an thorough overhaul but now, yes, tearing it down is the only remaining option. And replacing it with something completely different, like building it up on the constitutions of the Scandinavian countries.

The way we fix this is to stop using money and make everything free. We have enough resources, we don't need to trade imaginary numbers to decide who gets to live a good life. No bills no profits no exploitation and no oligarchy

The founding fathers actually wrote a whole amendment addressing this exact scenario. It was added as a constitutional amendment, can't remember which one... I think maybe after the first one but before the... Third one? Gosh, it's tough to keep this stuff straight.

To make effective use of that we have to get organized. That means uniting behind a leader who is more interested in solving the problem than with fundraising or getting votes.

1) It's only banned by their state constitution if the state supreme court (which is controlled by Republicans) says it is. 2) They know most voters won't notice (at least enough to rise up and do anything about it) and those that do can be slapped with felony convictions to prevent them from voting

3) They have to get elected every other year but the electoral maps and rules (as well as voter preferences/demographics) are so much in their favor that they never have to worry about losing their majority. Laboratories of Autocracy by David Pepper is a good read.
